Elton John’s AIDS Foundation Academy Awards Viewing Party Red Carpet Roundup

There was no shortage of memorable looks at Elton John’s AIDS Foundation Academy Awards Viewing Party on Sunday (March 4) in West Hollywood, California.

Karolina Kurkova: Look closely at the Czech model’s Balmain Pre-Fall 2018 suit as the fabric has a marvelous texture that’s flecked with sparkles on the collar. It might not have been the loudest look, but it was unique and nice to see another pants option.

Darby Stanchfield: The ‘Scandal’ actress celebrated floral and fauna with her Teresa Helbig gown. Unfortunately, there were too many opposing elements between the print, sequins, sharp neckline and the sparkling bag. I can see some saying it’s a lesser version of Gucci.

Petra Nemcova: The philanthropist and model struck a pose in a sunny Celia Kritharioti gown. It was a well-executed look with her waves echoing the ruffled shoulder detail. The red lipstick and high slit added allure to the cheerful fabric.

Laura Marano: With a sweeping hemline and ombré lace appliqués, the actress and singer looked like the belle of the ball in Tony Ward Couture.

Andie MacDowell: If the actress’s beaming smile is anything to go by, she is feeling confident in her Georges Chakra gown and Bvlgari jewels. Her enthusiasm is infectious and I can see why she would love the one-shouldered style thanks to the majestic purple colour and softly draped ruffles.

Jasmine Sanders: The model oozed dark romance in an Iris Serban gown. It was bewitching with the layers of tulle flowing to the ground and the inky beading. The statement pendant brought some lightness and more shine.

Judith Light: The ‘Transparent’ actress left the gown behind in favour of a Zac Posen ensemble. It offered as much drama and glamour as any dress with the voluminous ruffled sleeves enveloping her in a cloud-like silhouette. Paired with sleek black pants, it was a chic riff on tuxedo dressing.

Adriana Lima: The Brazilian beauty loves a sexy gown so this embellished Georges Hobeika dress with René Caovilla shoes and Chopard jewels was very much in her wheelhouse. With the exposed nipples and up-to-there slit, I’m sure I’m not alone in saying this was too naked of a style and in need of a lining.

Jackie Cruz: The ‘Orange is the New Black’ actress was another one in Tony Ward Couture. There were no shortage of dramatic details on the gown, but like Adriana, her dress will likely be remembered for the exposed nipples.

Shanina Shaik: The model recalled the glamour of decades gone by in an August Getty dress with Lorraine Schwartz jewels. The white gown still would have been beautiful with minimalist styling, but I appreciate how she upped the drama with her hair and accessories.

Sofia Richie: The model’s Armani gown had a simple cut that allowed the mixed patterns to take center stage. The Bvlgari jewels played off the silver tones in the style.

Jasmine Tookes: Another beauty in bold prints, the model turned heads in a geometric Monique Lhuillier gown festooned with dégradé feathers. The Dvani earrings and Ivy NY ring tied in the rich hues from the textured skirt.

Lais Ribeiro: In an August Getty gown, Giuseppe Zanotti shoes and Bulgari jewels, the Brazilian model looked like a modern Jessica Rabbit. The look oozed sensuality and glamour.

Katharine McPhee: The singer and actress opted for a shorter silhouette in a Leilou by Alex dress. It still had details aplenty with the highly decorative bodice and cascade of sparkles on the hem. The sheer fabrication enhanced the lingerie inspiration.

Kat Graham: The former ‘Pretty Little Liars’ star isn’t afraid to experiment with out-of-the-ordinary silhouettes. Unfortunately, this Ermanno Scervino ensemble didn’t come together as strongly as it could have. It feels a bit too contrived and better suited for another occasion.

Busy Philipps: I appreciate the dancer inspiration of this Christian Siriano gown, but even with the voluminous skirt, it lacks the glamour needed for the occasion. It seems like she pulled the shimmering skirt over her leotard. Abbie Cornish‘s take on the dark top and patterned skirt were much more successful.

Bellamy Young: The ‘Scandal’ star also shimmered, donning a Stephane Rolland Couture gown with René Caovilla shoes and MEIRA T jewels. It had a captivating Art Deco quality from the embellishment. I applaud her for having a lining that matched her skin tone so precisely.
