2018 Film Independent Spirit Awards Red Carpet Roundup

There were plenty more stars who took to the red carpet for the 2018 Film Independent Spirit Awards on Saturday (March 3) in Santa Monica, California, joining Danai Gurira, Kerry Washington and Margot Robbie.

Saoirse Ronan: This Prada lime jacquard shift dress with multi-colour paillettes was perfectly suited to the fun, relaxed nature of the event. Matching Prada sandals and Piaget jewels completed the look.

Dree Hemingway: Also in Prada, I love the luxu boho vibe of her white and red dotted chiffon cap sleeve gown.

Allison Janney:
Bringing some high-glamour to the beach-side event, the ‘I, Tonya’ star looked breath-taking wearing a fuchsia Pamella Roland cut-out gown which perfectly showcased her gorgeous figure. Her matching sandals and emerald jewels couldn’t have been a more perfect fit.

Elizabeth Olsen: While there’s nothing new about this red sheer Zuhair Murad dress, it was something very new for the usually reserved star, and I have to say I love it. Not only to see her in something so unexpected, but also to see her take a risk for once. Solange Azagury-Partridge jewels  completed her look.

Salma Hayek: This black and red fitted dress hugged Salma in all the right places. Once again I’m grateful it’s not off-the-runway Gucci look.

Amanda Seyfried: Sadly, I couldn’t get on board with Amanda’s Alexander McQueen dress – which feels quite limp despite the detail – or the nude pumps.

Molly Shannon: Her Badgley Mischka navy column gown with ruffled sleeve detail was given a touch more glamour with an embellished silver clutch.

Ava DuVernay: High low dresses aren’t everyone’s cup of tea, but this Greta Constantine green collared satin dress with puffed sleeves was one I could fully get behind in terms of originality and execution. Stella Luna metallic pumps and a satin Jimmy Choo ‘Cloud’ clutch accessorized her look.

Haley Lu Richardson: Her Zimmermann Spring 2018 two-piece floral look styled with Salvatore Ferragamo satin strappy sandals perfectly set the mood for the carefree event.

Aubrey Plaza: While this Miu Miu look did have an open back, it still felt very much like a maids uniform or a look you would see on a governess. Jimmy Choo ‘Minny’ sandals and a bright pink lip completed her look.

Dree, Ava, Aubrey–I like all there dresses. Ava always looks great. Dree needed to put her hair up.

First row looks amazing, especially Saoirse, she is nailing it! Absolutely love her look!

Wow, Allison Janney. Kinda weird though, the dress code for this event seems a bit all over the place. I thought this was a more casual affair.

First row everyone looks awesome, especially love Dree’s look. Second row is hideous except for Salma…love her dress and shoes. The rest is meh. Aubrey does indeed look like a maid or nanny.

Obsessed with Elizabeth Olsen! OMG! Love that it’s so outside her comfort zone. And the shade of red goes perfectly with her hair and make up… really one of her best looks yet.

Now I got really excited for her the Avengers promo tour… for more looks like this

Saoirse and Dree look great and event appropriate.

Dree, Allison and Salma look good. For me Haley Lu is a WDOTY nominee.

Saoirse’s look is so good! Matchy matchy at its best. I don’t even mind the fit and the length of the dress. Dree looks great for the venue. The rest I’m not a fan of. Especially Elizabeth. It seems with her that it’s either this or ugly Dior, I miss her good style days.

I like Saoirse and Dree. Amanda was ok ankles up but needed better shoes. Felt that the others were boring either boring or too much for the event.

    Allison Janney looks amazing!

Saoirse and Dree look lovely. Selma looks great, apart of the shoes.

Generally speaking I was a bit surprised about this year’s red carpet. It used to be such a fresh and casual, a bit hippie like event, and a lot of the dresses this year felt too formal or too dark/autumnally.

Salma is my favourite here. Allison continued her winning streak.

Aubrey’s outfit is kinda growing on me. I really like her beauty look.

I am so happy to write this: Salma Hayek looks terrific. My other favorite is Saoirse Ronan who looks adorable. The more I see of Zimmerman dresses, the more I dislike them. Elisabeth Olsen’s style change is one that I am not on board with. If you are going to change, then don’t go for a “same ole same ole done to death” Zuhair Murad dress.

The awkward toe situation aside, Saoirse nailed it – perfect look for the occasion – fresh, cute, festive, nice refreshing colors.. it does make me think of Kiernan Shipka stylewise somewhat, but it works nicely for Saoirse.
