‘A Wrinkle In Time’ LA Premiere Red Carpet Roundup

The Los Angeles premiere of Disney’s ‘A Wrinkle In Time’ on Monday (February 26) brought out the storybook romance in many lovely ladies.

Tessa Thompson: The ‘Westworld actress’ oozed retro elegance in an embellished Miu Miu dress. It’s clear she has considered the entire look, but I must say that the Judith Leiber clutch takes away from the diamantes on the gown. The Irene Neuwirth and David Yurman jewels were more harmonizing.

Tracee Ellis Ross: The ‘Black-ish’ actress was a beauty blooms in a Michael Kors Resort 2018 dress. The pleated style has a romantic fairy tale quality, but her styling gives it a fashion-forward finish. A Tyler Ellis clutch, pale pink boots and her cornrows elevate the look.

Oprah Winfrey: Va-va-voom! The multi-hyphenate looked sensational in a deep blue Atelier Versace number. She may not have gone the princess route, but I don’t think anyone will be complaining about this sultry number.

Issa Rae: I am very much in favour of the mood of the ‘Insecure’ actress’s ensemble, so it pains me that it wasn’t as successful as it could have been with the too-long skirt and wrinkles. There is such power and strength so it could have been a major moment.

Ava DuVernay: Another one who fell victim to a too-long skirt, the producer wore a custom Cushnie et Ochs dress. Given this was made for her, I would have expected the tailoring to be flawless. I will try to overlook it as the rich pink hue and wraparound neckline have an elegant effect.

Mindy Kaling: The new mom glowed in a custom Greta Constantine gown. The rich purple colour and fit are sublime and truly showcase her radiant beauty. A Tyler Ellis clutch and statement earrings rounded out the look.

Gugu Mbatha-Raw: The actress brought some light to the red carpet in a white Vionnet gown. The Grecian influence is clear, but it’s the rainbow banding around the waist that enlivens the look, projecting a sunny optimism.

Jurnee Smollett-Bell: The former ‘Friday Night Lights’ actress looked sweet yet sultry in a Missoni dress with David Yurman jewels and Katy Perry shoes. It was a quieter look, but it had sweet charm from the translucent pink fabric and billowing sleeves.

Angela Bassett:  The actress broke away from the gowns, donning a shimmering Greta Constantine vest and trousers. I’m enchanted with the sleek disco fabrication, but think the proportions of the top let her down a bit. With such a sensational figure, methinks a more fitted top would have worked more in her favour.

Storm Reid: The young actress continued to demonstrate her advanced fashion credentials in a custom Coach ensemble paired with a Coach ‘Dinky’ bag. I am charmed with the riff on the classic gown. It has a fun picked-from-the-costume-box quality thanks to the layering, yet it still has such style.
