Emma Roberts In Schiaparelli Couture – 2018 BAFTAs

Emma Roberts went for a sharp-shouldered statement at the 2018 BAFTAs on Sunday (February 18) in London, England, where she joined Rebecca Ferguson, Saoirse Ronan and Leslie Bibb.

No embellishment was needed on the actress’s black Schiaparelli Fall 2016 Couture dress as the larger-than-life shoulders stole the show.

Against the nipped-in waist and plunging neckline, it has a strong and sensual effect.

A few millimeters more and the exaggerated silhouette could have come across as comical, but the shoulders’ size and shape are spot on.

There is definitely a whimsical element, but it has been tempered by the masterful construction and colour, the latter of which also shows her solidarity with the Time’s Up movement.

The dangling earrings and clutch finished the head-turning look.

I miss the brooch. Interesting dress

I wish she’d kept the broach

      … and worn gold shoes.

I’ll decide that the dress is brown. I actually love it. No bling, no cheap fringes, no frills. The skirt is very architectural with the superposition of layers and the top is well resolved with the wide shoulders bringing the whimsical element, so typical of a Schiaparelli dress.

Golden pumps or even rosé gold pumps would have worked better.

I agree with it being aging but if she’d kept the broach maybe and worn different accessories, it would’ve been great, it’s the styling that lets her down because it is an interesting dress.

I feel sorry for her boobs. This dress does then no favours whatsoever.

The dress is interesting, I don’t know if I like it or not but at least it’s original. I wish she’d worn sandals in gold instead of plain black pumps.

Is she…auditioning for the role of an extra on Dynasty?

  8. AnnaP February 18, 2018 at 21:04 #

I don’t know, but the colour looks brown.

      It’s this picture.

How old is she she? This is something a 50+ woman would wear…not sure why her stylist would pick this for her. Not feeling it.

I agree that this is an old lady dress. The thing is that no one over 40 would wear it because it screams old lady dress. To make this look modern, it would have to worn in a subversive way by someone like Rihanna or Rita Ora.

    this is very old lady

Yes and really not right for the event.
      What a weird choice.

She’s too young for such a dress. This would look better on anyone over 40 IMO.

No. I love the shoulder detail but the rest of it is so limp…
The color is just blah, faded like. The silhouette is so dowdy. the shoe even more so.
