Yara Shahidi In Giambattista Valli Couture – 2018 Critics’ Choice Awards

I know many of you feel that Yara Shahidi was robbed when it comes to Best Dressed Teen of 2017, and I that feeling may be be further compounded when you see her look for the 2018 Critics’ Choice Awards.

The ‘Grown-ish’ star was a vision of perfection wearing a whisper-weight silk-georgette Giambattista Valli Spring 2017 Couture gown, which is a timely choice, as Pantone named ultraviolet light the colour of 2018.

Yara’s gown was also peppered with hues of lavender and ecru to accent the dress with a dose of painterly influence, plus a burst bronze stones which meant she could go minimal on the accessories.

There were many great gowns on this red carpet; this is firmly seated in the top 3.

I’m making a note of this for my BDOTY.

It’s a crazy, hippie-esque dress–and she is wearing it with aplomb and grace! Plus the shade of lavender is radiant on her.

I love this, the color is so gorgeous on her!

In love with this! Stunning colour on her and while the dress is busy, she pulls it off effortlessly.

+1. She can wear the busiest looks, and they never “wear her”. It’s a joy to see.

Love the beauty look and her earrings and the color of the dress. Yara looks gorgeous but I too am not a fan of the prairie dresses.

      +1

No. This is not for her. It looks so aging and matronly. I just can’t.

  7. TeaAtTwo January 12, 2018 at 18:46 #

I love the colour and she wears it with ease and not looking costumey.

It takes someone this young and this stylish to pull off a boho inspired prairie dress without looking like a confused 1970’s Melissa Gilbert with a side of Stevie Nicks. Yara manages to make this a great look but I imagine it would be a tough sell on pretty much anyone else.

I see purple/lavender is still going strong and into 2018. This is dreamy.

Pantone announced “ultraviolet” as the colour for 2018. I’m sure we’ll be seeing a lot of these hues this year.

The color is nice but I don’t like these prairie dresses.

the dress is not bad, but I do not think it is right for her. She is so cool, young and funky – I want her to push the boundaries. This feels too tame for her.

    Not her best.

Nothing else to say but LOVE this!!!
