Cate Blanchett In Marni & Louis Vuitton – IWC For The Love Of Cinema At DIFF

Cate Blanchett attended the jury meeting of the sixth IWC Filmmaker Award during the 7th Dubai International Film Festival (DIFF) on Thursday (December 7) in United Arab Emirates.

This Marni Pre-Fall 2017 look isn’t quite the tornado extravaganza of prints and colours we’re used to seeing from the Italian brand, yet there’s enough of a strong contrast which I find intriguing.

Who knew spots and houndstooth would work in perfect harmony like this?

With the IWC Filmmakers Award ceremony taking place in the evening, Cate changed into a fashion-forward gown with a glamorous edge from Louis Vuitton’s Resort 2018 collection.

I love how the gilded gold top half almost feels like armour, before giving way to sheer, delicate skirt.

There are so many elements which appeared pulled for different stratosphere to create one harmonious look.

I think I prefer this one over the Armani.

Which do you prefer?

    The Armani!

I hate the first look, the prints do not go together. The LV looks great on the model but falls flat on Cate.

Count me in the minority, that LV is giving me goosebumps. Not comparable to the Armani IMO, it’s a totally different style… I pick both.

Also, can we talk about how effortlessly gorgeous her hair looks? She’s always flawless from the neck up.

I personally LOVE the LV and would like to see it on the BDOTW-poll as well. Might prefer it over the Armani as well.

I think you’re way to nice to the Marni look, Catherine. It works on the model, but Cate looks awful in that. I don’t really know what to think of the LV look. It’s not bad, but for some reason it makes her posture look bad, like she’s slouching.

I like the colour way of the Marni. The LV is draining her in both colour and cut. Neither holds a candle to the Armani – I’m a bit confused by that comment tbh Catherine

Nicolas Ghesquiere need to leave Vuitton!
    The massacre has to stop.

    Two misses, imho.

Not fond of both looks, but the first one especially is a real letdown. Like a seventies housewife who has decided to add some funk to her wardrobe. Ugh.

I’ve been waiting for someone to wear that Vuitton look since it hit the runway. Cate of course looks great, there’s just some spark missing. It’s been missing for a while actually.

I will be quite perturbed if the LV shows up on the BDOTW contender list and the gorgeous Armani is missing. This pile of fabric with the unappealing deep v-neck does not flatter her figure or her complexion; the Armani does both.

I prefer the Armani far far more. 100x more.
The LV is not my fave. The mix of pattern is not appealing to me. The shiny fabric looks quite cheap to my eyes.
The Marni no. the mix of pattern is annoying and ugly. The shoes are dull.

I’m probably going to be in the minority but I think LV is cool, different, striking.

    • Mimi December 8, 2017 at 00:57 #

+1, I prefer it to the Armani 100%

Ha, of course the best LV was reserved for Her Majesty. I love the dress.
I need that Marni blouse in my wardrobe but I’ll wear with pleated checked pants. I adore the mixed prints. Very unusual combination.

I don’t think either one looks great. The dots and the houndstooth don’t really work and the shoes, as usual, are dullsville. The LV look is not great. It’s too open through the chest and while it does look good on the model is just not working on Cate. Oh what a let down after yesterday’s return to top form.

The Marni is OK, would have been better with a brighter shoe. I think she’s pulling off the LV – which feels quite boobalicous for Cate – even though she’s continued her run of bland footwear but the I prefer the Armani.

  17. Meme December 8, 2017 at 00:28 #

The LV is hideous. Not into the marni either.

  18. Christine December 8, 2017 at 00:19 #

The Armani was 100x better. The LV looks WAY better on the runway and that’s saying alot.

Her Marni look is nice, but ankles up. She could’ve added a fun shoe, but Cate is Cate.
