‘Volez, Voguez, Voyagez – Louis Vuitton’ Exhibition

Fashionistas in the Louis Vuitton family stepped out to attended the ‘Volez, Voguez, Voyagez ‘ exhibition opening on Thursday (October 26) in New York City, with the ladies all wearing Spring 2018 outfits.

Alicia Vikander: Making her first appearance since marrying Michael Fassbender, the newlywed continued to prove why she and Louis Vuitton are a smashing combination. Many will be focused on her ring, but I enjoyed the way the embroidered coat dressed up the skinny trousers. The double handles on the bag could have come off as contrived, but they don’t.

Pom Klementieff: Also displaying a compelling mix, the actress gave us long and short proportions with animal print, stripes and varying textures. Some might find it a tad too much, but the cute eye bag helped merge the competing black and brown pieces.

Zendaya Coleman:
This marked the actress’s first Louis Vuitton event. Recently, she has had a number of triumphant red carpet hits so I was intrigued to see what she would bring to the brand. The interplay of fabrics and textures is interesting and I like how she brought a sophisticated elegance to the shorter hemline.

Michelle Williams: I’ve long enjoyed the actress and the design house’s pairing as they bring out interesting parts of each other. This Spring 2018 shimmering silver dress had a pixish charm which the metallic accessories played up. It was the most formal look on the carpet, but it didn’t appear out of place.

Laura Harrier:
Like Zendaya, the actress and model opted for a poetic blouse with full sleeves. She tempered hers with a fitted green shift and grey sneakers. It worked for the red carpet, but I can also envision her wearing it off-duty.

Jennifer Connelly:
Another member of the Louis Vuitton family who I enjoy, the actress embraced a playful mix. She might have been in the same shoes as Alicia, but the similarities ended there with Jennifer adding a toughness to a voluminous blouse. The overall effect was chic with a modern edge.

Léa Seydoux: Keeping with the mix-and-match theme, the former Bond Girl looked refined in an ornate coat. The way the modern red striped dress countered the heavily embroidered coat was lovely. As gorgeous as the jacket was, it could have come off as dowdy. It definitely doesn’t in this ensemble.

Riley Keough:
The actress dressed up white trousers with a long coat that looked like gold leaf thanks to the sumptuous print. This outfit was all about contrasts so I was fond of the way the topper’s gold was balanced with the inky black bottom, and the black logo boots and clutch contrasted the light pants.

Ruth Negga:
No matter what the ‘Loving’ actress wears, her style always retains a retro flair. This was evident in this black outfit. However, she has taken it in a different direction by teaming the fit-and-flare dress with a bold striped illusion top. We’ve seen a lot of illusion looks, but this is a different one—and the playful effect is something I’d like to see explored more.

Alexander Skarsgard: The actor’s hairstyle will undoubtedly be the biggest talking point. As it’s presumed to be for a role in ‘The Hummingbird Project,’ I will focus on his clothes. The two-button style had a dapper finish, but my grievance is that it could have been tailored better for a sleek finish. The creases on the trousers do not help matters.

Adèle Exarchopoulos: The French actress looked fashion-forward in a Spring 2018 ensemble. The voluminous sleeves and proportions of the top will likely result in polarizing opinions, but I think she successfully styled it with the cropped trousers and black accessories.

Jaden Smith: The actor and rapper has already established himself as having a distinctive style. True to form, he put his own spin on a T-shirt and trousers with his clever use of accessories. I like the mix of the chunky chain with the red bag, but wish he had set down his phone and the bottle before taking the photos.
