amfAR Los Angeles 2017

A crush of stars came out for amfAR Los Angeles 2017 on Friday (October 13) in Beverly Hills, California.

Heidi Klum: At this point, I’m always prepared to be disappointed with a Heidi look, but she actually stepped up to the plate in this Ralph & Russo Fall 2017 Couture gown that was a far more modern and sophisticated form of glittery glam for her.  The look was of course styled with Lorraine Schwartz  jewels.

Dita Von Teese: Designer Ulyana Sergeenko and Dita are a perfect match, as can be seen in this Demi-Couture gown that prizes the feminine form with its provocative bustier silhouette and seductive thigh slit.

Kate Hudson: Playing to her buzz cut, Kate kept it cool and mod in this David Koma Resort 2018 gown that scintillated with mirror-like embellishment.  A Jimmy Choo ‘Cloud’ clutch completed her look.

Selita Ebanks: There’s no doubt the model can look striking in anything, but something about this lacy PatBo fringe gown came across as a bit dated.

Cara Santana: In the lookbook, this Monique Lhuillier Pre-Fall 2017 gown featured a subtle high-low hem, and it was much-needed here. As presented, it was just a bit too much dress on Cara with the tufted floral accoutrement.

Victoria Justice: Also donning a PatBo gown, Victoria’s was a bit fresher in spirit with its delicate floral motif. That slick of oxblood lipstick brought a layer of drama to the more subtle tones of the dress, with Djula jewels rounding out the look.

Ashley Greene: This Theia Couture jumpsuit was a bit constricting across the bodice, as the girls were more squished than celebrated it seemed. Neil Lane jewels certainly added glamorous sparkle, but almost too much so for this slightly more casual silhouette.

Sophia Bush: The actress spiced up her Galvan ensemble—which could also have been viewed as having a slightly off-fitting bodice—with splashes of red in her lip, clutch, and pumps.

Michelle Rodriguez: Also opting for pants, Michelle brought a higher level of elegantly sleek sophistication in her Mugler Spring 2017 outfit. Although, I was missing a similarly sleek beauty look with her au natural approach.

Busy Phillips: Her rose-gold hair can be a challenging hue to complement, but most assuredly this all-black ensemble did the trick with a BreeLayne Fall 2017 sheer skirt balanced by the structured edge of her blazer.

Fergie: Before hitting the stage to perform at the event, the entertainer posed in a slouchy suit that I wish had been more crisply tailored to her.

Julia Roberts: The pouf sleeves of her Givenchy dress gave it a distinct girlish flair, with Lorraine Schwartz jewels and Stella Luna heels completing the look. I think a sleek bun would have worked wonders here.
