Carey Mulligan In Christian Dior Couture – Cartier Celebrates Resonances de Cartier

Carey Mulligan joined Diane Kruger for Cartier’s celebration of Resonances de Cartier on Tuesday (October 10) in New York City.

The English actress has been on something of a role of late, however, the excitement I have felt for her previous looks didn’t extent to this one.

Her black Dior Fall 2017 Couture gown in sumptuous black velvet is actually quite stunning, as is her Cartier jewels, it’s the no-makeup makeup which fails to live up to everything else she has going on here.

Rupert Sanderson sandals completed her look.

She’s amazing. I love the eighteenth-century reference, the corset effect. How it was probably envisioned by the designer. Mulligan always looks classy and understated, even with cleavage. Amusing to read such prudish comments.

Nope. The model wears it so much better.

I didn’t know she was soooo bosom-y. lol. Im quite surprised frankly. Like most everyone else here I liked it better on the model. It just is not working for her.

Her twins are going to explode!

Haha. What I was thinking, just expressed a thousand times better.

It’s a shame to see a beautiful Dior dress, especially when Dior has so many clunkers these days, worn like this. Oh well, maybe we will see it again on someone whose breasts are not being pushed/squeezed like this.

Dear Santa, Can I have this dress the way it looks on the model for Christmas? I’ve been good.

  7. charlotte October 11, 2017 at 13:22 #

All I see is the squeezed boobs, sorry….

I don’t mind her makeup because I have never been a big fan of 10 lbs on makeup but the fit around the bust is off. I also love the dress with the belt

I think the problem is here is attitude; She just looks there but not necessarily enjoying the dress

I felt the same, her facial expression reads:”Alright, fellas, Let’s get this over with,I need to go inside and lie down.”

The squished boobs is a no no. Also the no make up look with this dress is blah.

She’s a redhead. Redheads need to stick to their natural colouring when wearing black, because otherwise it sucks the life out of them.

This needed a deeper hair colour, a dramatic red lip, a belt, a better fit around and the bust (ouch!) and a more playful styling all around to counter the formality of this dress.

I always forget that she’s naturally red

Once again she breathes no life in to the look this plus the squashed up twins and lacklustre hair spoiling the elegance. Kristen Scott Thomas might look regal in this.

    • Leandra October 11, 2017 at 11:19 #

Exactly. This is a dress for a more handsome woman not for the pretty, sweety one.

    • meme October 11, 2017 at 14:34 #

I agree. She looks blah and her poor boobs.

  12. Leandra October 11, 2017 at 10:53 #

Nothing is intrinsically bad when taken alone but the whole is lacking a good amount of attitude. She looks more like a sacrificial lamb than a star on the red carpet.

    • Schoolbea October 11, 2017 at 22:52 #

Lol, perfect simile. I couldn’t agree more. A pity, the dress is the best Dior I’ve seen in a loooong time.

I love this dress and I’m terribly disappointed to see it presented like this. The fit around the bust, the minimal makeup, the quite messy hairstyle and the addition of the necklace are bringing it down.

I hope Emmy Rossum can give this a re-run. Without a necklace, but with some purple/emerald earrings, intense red lip and an elegant updo.

I can’t with the push up bra/dress, it’s too much and quite ridiculous.
The hair and the make up seem to belong to another look.
Too bad, because the dress was good, which is becoming a rare thing now with Dior!
