Natalie Portman In Christian Dior – L.A. Dance Project’s Annual Gala

Over the weekend, Natalie Portman attended the L.A. Dance Project’s Annual Gala on Saturday (October 7) in LA.

There will be no surprises that this Dior darling was dressed in a Christian Dior black dress, this one portraying a bit of movement and balletic quality in the ruched, romantic effect of the skirt that floated away from the body.

The effect of the gathered fabric may cause some to question the fit through the top.

But, I was instead celebrating the rare vibrancy she added to the monochromatic look with her colourful, beaded Van Cleef & Arpels earrings.

    What the hell… Can’t believe it’s Dior.

terrible fit and same boring color and design as usual.
Nothing she wears could get me slightly excited anymore.

Ms. Fashion Paradox still didn’t recover from the acute case of smugness. Now she doesn’t care even about the fitting.
Other than the dress she looks really good. Those sandals are killers and the earings as well.

      Amen, +1

She’s a petite woman. This dress is not only dated, but completely overwhelms her. And like CreoleLady mentioned, that fit is inexcusable.

Beauty look, hair and shoes are all very on point. I even like the silhouette — the neckline, fitted waist, three quarter sleeve. But, that godawful fabric and fit. Inexcusable.

She’s beautiful but she always picks pieces that either boring or are unflattering. This mess of a dress falls in to both camps.

+1. I could not agree more.

Dear Lord… This dress is a cheap-looking mess.

      Lol my thoughts exactly. Cringe!

All I can see is a garbage bag…

      Sad but TRUE!

      Yes! This. ^^

Her face says it all !
The dress is awful, the fit is so wrong, it’s a shame for Dior.

    an aging and dowdy dress

but I do love her hair, shoes and earrings

Scroll down through Emma, Julianne, Claire and Stacey….yes yes yes!!! Happy days. Then get to this…yikes! Dior does it again. So ageing and messy. Disappointing from Natalie again…

    • Catherine Kallon October 9, 2017 at 09:26 #

      Totally agree.

But can we really blame Dior for this?

She must have access to everything and anything at Dior.

      • CreoleLady October 9, 2017 at 10:23 #

Yes indeed, we can blame Dior. Something this cheap looking and poorly fitted should not be have the name Dior slapped on it. This overpriced dreck should not be available to be selected by Portman or anyone else.

        • james October 9, 2017 at 11:45 #

Yet Charlize or Jennifer manage to select modern and contamporary pieces. Yes Dior is partially to be blamed but Natalie is not known for being a fashionista or even a trendsetter. I don’t think she cares about fashion at all (nothing wrong with that btw just saying).

          • CreoleLady October 9, 2017 at 17:44 #

I get it — Portman could pick something better. That assumes there is anything better left to pick. She may not have access to everything at Dior; that is an assumption. And even so, with what I have seen going down the Dior runway, picking something better may be a Herculean feat. Dior is not off the hook in my book.

Their Couture collection for this autumn/winter is full of fantastic pieces that would really suit Portman.

      • Chris October 9, 2017 at 12:03 #

I agree. She has been selecting one uninspired dress after another, it’s been especially obvious this year and I also don’t think this can be blamed on Dior only. Natalie obviously likes her simple, conservative dresses in black and white.

      • Noemi October 9, 2017 at 13:17 #

I think the stylist is the one to blame. There’re a lot of Dior dresses, that can also be modified. This dress is a mess, no one could look good with it. Too bad that a beautiful woman like N. Portman chose something so unflattering and aging

    • Saudin October 9, 2017 at 16:55 #

First of all, it’s Dior’s fault to even produce a dress as disastrous as this one….
