With a dizzying and dazzling array of wardrobe changes, Rita Ora whisked through eight ensembles while filming her new ‘Anywhere’ music video in New York City on Thursday (October 5). Although many of the looks had a distinctly ‘Rita’ aesthetic, it looks like the sartorial story was also inspired by ‘Sex and the City,’ which naturally created a host of even more memorably modish moments for the singer.
First up, the performer hit the NYC streets, but it was her high boots that did all the walking in this Off White Fall 2017 look that she translated straight from the runway. Electric-blue will always capture my affection, and that didn’t change here with this lush, velveteen coat-dress that was balanced by the quirkiness of the plaid footwear. Alexis Bittar earrings completed this enchanting-cool, fall look.
If you thought her first pair of boots were bold, they had nothing on this decoratively ‘Silver Glacia’ embellished pair by Sophia Webster. I’m not sure if they commanded more attention—or if the fantasy of her flowy red coat from Vaquera The Handmaid’s Tale Collection did. A Tezenis black bodysuit and Double Disco earrings finished out the look that had the fairy-tale magic of ‘Little Red Riding Hood’-meets-Big Apple glam.
Naturally, an athleisure-inspired look would be necessary, and here, Rita glamourized her yoga-ready Paco Rabanne BodyLine top and pants with a colourful Colin Locascio floral graffiti biker jacket and Sophia Webster ‘Lilico Crystal’ platform shoes to take it from namaste to NYC territory. Further enhancing the look, she accessorised with Alexis Bittar earrings, Swarovski rings, and Linda Farrow sunglasses to complete the retro-forward ensemble.
Next up, she celebrated the high-octane glitz from the Halpern Fall 2017 collection. This half-and-half look is hard to forget, so you’ll likely remember seeing it on Marion Cotillard, Katy Perry, and Giovanna Battaglia. But, many might say it’s best suited as a performance piece, so Rita’s version fit right in for her music video. I love how her delightfully gigantic, square-shaped Alexis Bittar earrings topped off the shine factor.
Rocking her own version of the rainbow, Rita wore hers via a Madeleine Thompson Bebe cashmere sweater and Rainbow cashmere track pants that got plenty of funky punk appeal in her major Sophia Webster ‘Nena’ platform boots and Kangol x Marc Jacobs pink bucket hat. A number of gold Alexis Bittar statement jewels added to the hip-hop flavour of the look.
For her sixth outfit, she let her legs do all the talking in a teeny Mulberry jumpsuit that had a similar track-suit-style appeal. No better way to round out her spicy, sporty romper than with another pair of those large-and-in-charge, glittery Alexis Bittar earrings—these a big circle shape—along with an embellished headband. Her comfy boots made me think that these shots were likely filmed from the ankles up.
Floral, zebra stripes, and fur… oh my! Rita proved the ultimate style mix-master with this Attico multi-patterned hatler gown from the Falll 2017 collection; styled with a Colin LoCascio red fur coat and the metallic pizzazz of rock-star-ready Saint Laurent Niki Swarovski crystal-embellished leather knee boots from the Fall 2017 collection. I love how her long, sultry waves brought a layer of old Hollywood elegance to her signature twist on glamour here.
Her final look may be the most reminiscent of ‘SATC’ for some of you, with the vintage Vivienne Westwood Couture dress from Found And Vision echoing the billowy Carrie Bradshaw number. The twinkling, embellished Gigi Burris veil added another layer of girly romance to the look with an Alexis Bittar choker necklace topping it off. As statement boots have been a theme throughout, a pair from Mulberry provided a uniquely edgy finish to the wedding gown-inspired look. I have no doubt Rita had no shortage of fun dancing and twirling around in this frock.
