Dakota Johnson In Proenza Schouler – ‘Call Me by Your Name’ New York Film Festival Screening

Dakota Johnson attended the screening of ‘Call Me by Your Name’ during the 55th New York Film Festival on Tuesday (October 3), which saw her not wear Gucci for the first time since May 2017.

She is a great ambassador for Alessandro Michele, however, this was the first time in a while (perhaps this year) that I’ve felt truly excited by Dakota on the red carpet.

Perhaps it’s the unpredictability of this Proenza Schouler Spring 2018 dress oozing plenty of flare with its cascading ruffled and sensual bustier layer or the freshness of it all.

Simple styling which included the Proenza Schouler ‘Curl’ clutch, Manolo Blahnik sandals and Mizuki earrings plus a red pout provided the finishing touches.

Thoughts on Dakota’s new look?

The dress looks like it has been through a shredder. She personifies “meh” for me although occasionally I like what she wears. This is not one of those times.

The dress is not bad. The hair is meh

I kinda like the simplicity of it. Over done would overcooked the look

      • Christine October 5, 2017 at 21:12 #

True, but it couldve’s been sleeker.

No. I find the dress to be a messy confusion. It cant figure out what its doing.
    Also her hair is awful.

I don’t see it. It looks kind of defeated. Maybe I’d see it if her hair were different?

    Doesn’t work for me.

I agree with the others that the hair could be neater but overall I think she looks good.

I adore this look from head to toe.

I find it so strange that people don’t seem to enjoy her style, I always love her Gucci looks and really appreciate her almost always going for something other than It-girl sexiness. She does fashion with a capital “F”.

And I love her personal/”street” style, too. One of my favourite style stars at the moment.

I think I agree with you. Her style seems rather underrated to me, this definitely includes her personal style.

  7. Hermoine October 4, 2017 at 13:30 #

To me this is a high degree of difficulty dress that requires presence that she doesn’t have

  8. Amy October 4, 2017 at 13:23 #

Shook. This is really good. Hair is a bit flat but overall she looks great

  9. Leandra October 4, 2017 at 13:08 #

    Bland as a vainila puding.

      Blander.

I adore this look! Shame about the hair though.

I don’t really like the dress on the model and I don’t really like Dakota Johnson, but I have to admit the dress looks good on her and her styling is perfect.

    • JHH October 4, 2017 at 16:29 #

I agree except for the hair, which I think could be better but overall this is one of her best looks.

  13. Camilla October 4, 2017 at 12:20 #

This would have been great if her hairhad been pulled back smartly, it looks so scrappy here for an outfit that demands either clean lines, or artful volume.

I’m not a fan of her style and I really don’t think she’s as fashion-forward as people are trying to make her, but this… this is beautiful.

I agree on every point. Nothing against this particular look, quite the opposite. I think it’s lovely.
