2017 Emmy Awards Menswear Roundup

The 2017 Emmy Awards were last night (September 17) in LA, and they delivered a number of memorable looks from the menswear department.

Caleb McLaughlin: The ‘Stranger Things’ actor may only be 15, but age has had no impact on his trendsetting, grown-up style. He dressed to impress in a custom Garçon Couture tuxedo that I loved for its bold purple, floral dinner jacket; the colour of which added snazzy, youthful fun to the look. Slim trousers and slipper-style loafers completed the suave ensemble.

Noah Schnapp:
‘Stranger Things’ will not be faulted for not having quite the stylish set of young guns, as I’m even more obsessed with 13-year-old Noah’s style. Statement jackets and cool-kid looks are his current M.O., and that can be thoroughly witnessed in this Balmain outfit. From the royal, velvet military jacket, to his embroidered slippers, he is showing guys three times his age how it’s done.

Finn Wolfhard: Rounding out the ‘Stranger Things’ trio, Finn took a safer approach in a black Prada tuxedo that still wins him style points, though.

Sterling K. Brown: Sterling won the Emmy for lead actor in ‘This Is Us,’ and his classic Valentino tuxedo served him well for the occasion—even if his bow tie needed a slight adjustment. The purple socks were a fun surprise.

Donald Glover: With two Emmys to accessorise his Gucci DIY MTO Heritage tuxedo, Donald made history in the royal purple number that delighted for its twist on traditional black suiting.

Matt Bomer: We can always rely on Matt to deliver polished sartorial precision with his classically handsome looks.

Riz Ahmed: Riz won the Outstanding Lead Actor Emmy for ‘The Night Of,’ and he accepted his trophy in a black Prada tux accented by one of the blue ACLU ribbons we saw on a number of stars last night.

Joel Kinnaman: A white tuxedo jacket always comes across as so elegant—when styled correctly—and this fetching Ralph Lauren Purple Label design was the perfect example. I love the black floral pin, which added just that little something extra.

Justin Hartley:
The ‘This Is Us’ hotshot took a sophisticated turn in this navy Valentino tux with contrast black lapels that had him looking mighty fine.

Matt Smith: The pocket square added a subtle touch of personality to this Ermenegildo Zegna Couture suit.

Jeremy Piven: The actor also showed off the crisp power of a white dinner jacket in this ensemble. I love the sophisticated spunk of his glasses.

Lakeith Stanfield: Marching to the beat of his own drum as he posed down the red carpet, the actor-rapper certainly wasn’t about to wear a normal black tux. This dark-emerald Ermenegildo Zegna Couture paisley jacket fit the bill, with the chain-accented bow tie and rings serving up street cred.

Alexander Skarsgard: Three-piece suits can sometimes come across as stuffy, but there was no chance of that happening with the ‘Big Little Lies’ actor’s Ermenegildo Zegna Couture tuxedo that was ever so handsomely refined.

Jesse Tyler Ferguson: Also opting for a more colourful jacket, JTF channeled jewel tones with this emerald option designed by Isaia.

Alec Baldwin: The ‘Saturday Night Live’ star’s Ermenegildo Zegna made-to-measure tuxedo presented an impeccable fit through the jacket. The trousers are where it seems as if a slightly more precise cut and length would have been optimal.

Milo Ventimiglia: Like Joel’s Ralph Lauren Purple Label ensemble, Milo duly impressed with his classic variation that commanded attention with its sleek elegance.

Dwayne Wade: With the glamorous Gabrielle Union at his side, Dwayne kept his look simple and straightforward in a Valentino black suit.

Joseph Fiennes: Attending with Maria Dolores Dieguez, ‘The Handmaid’s Tale’ actor looked sharp in a Burberry tuxedo that celebrated the glories of the British label’s tailoring.

Colin Jost: Velvet is not just a trend for the girls, as the ‘Saturday Night Live’ actor showed in his Todd Snyder ensemble. I would have left the shades at home instead of flaunting them on this bright blue jacket.
