Venice Film Festival Weekend Roundup

Here is a roundup of the stunning gowns which hit the Venice Film Festival carpet this weekend.

Giulia Bevilacqua: If you were in any doubt, Giulia did her best to let you know that she’s arrived at the festival, sweeping, almost literally, the red carpet in Philosophy di Lorenzo Serafini. Beautiful woman. Equally beautiful gown, but I would’ve loved to have seen some earrings here.

Lola Karimova-Tillyaeva: The one thing we don’t usually expect from a Film Festival is a fashion forward moment, but Lola was on hand to provide it wearing Jean Paul Gaultier Spring 2017 Couture. It’s fairly simple in construction, but the maximum impact is everlasting.

Diamand Bou Abboud: This Elie Saab Fall 2014 gown hails from one of my favourite collections from the designer. From the rich hue to the velvet trims, I’m in lust with this gown.

Valentina Lodovini: Receiving the ‘Kineo Diamanti’ Award for Best Actress, Valentina wore a sheer lilac Schiaparelli gown.

Rita Hayek: The actress also opted for Elie Saab, wearing a halter lace and chiffon layered look styled with a gold Elie Saab signature clutch.

Diamand Bou Abboud is my fave.

…Lola’s gown looks like a mix of Balmain with Maria Lucia Hohan’s pleating…a bit overworked.

Lola: is anyone else reminded of those paper dolls where you get different outfits to put over the top?

Lola definitely stands out, amazing look and she carries it so well. ut Diamand’s Elle Saab gown is definitely gorgeous as well, but not as outstanding.

Giulia’s look is kind of beach-wedding, especially with those shoes. And her presentation feels a bit over-the-top. She looks like a perfume-commercial.

Last two are giving me prom-vibes, both looking a bit cheap – Valentine because it’s so unflattering and looks ill-fitting, Rita because it’s uninspired.

Valentina’s dress is unflattering. All the other ladies look lovely, but Lola steals the show. Early BDOTW contender for me.

Lola Karimova-Tillyaeva has a massive haute couture collection, I was expecting her to wear Chanel but that Jean Paul Gaultier is stunning.
