Octavia Spencer In Tadashi Shoji – ‘The Shape Of Water’ Venice Film Festival Photocall & Premiere

Octavia Spencer is in Italy to promote her new film, ‘The Shape Of Water’ during the 74th Venice Film Festival on Thursday (August 31), where she of course wore Tadashi Shoji.

I don’t know about you, but I found myself being surprisingly underwhelmed by Octavia on this occasion.

Photocall: This style fits Octavia to a tee, but this dress would’ve been so much better had the lining not been so stark. It was the wrong shade for this navy dress.

Premiere: While I do love this look, especially the wine-hue, I would’ve loved something that was more in tune with the grand occasion. This as a gown would’ve been magical for me. Lorraine Schwartz jewels completed her look.

She looks nice, but considering the event, I’m a bit disappointed as well. I expected more.

    I love the second look.

I love her and agree the lining of the first dress should be darker. Not crazy about the second dress but no sheer and no visible panties so WINNER!

I think the first look is nice. However, I agree with you about the second one. It would have been perfect as a gown.

I love OS but both looks appear to be on the dated side.

I don’t either of these looks

I agree with you on thinking that I would’ve preferred her red carpet look to be a full length gown, but I wonder- especially after seeing what the film’s lead Sally Hawkins wore- if Spencer chose the shorter length as a more appropriate option for a supporting actor, and to perhaps not steal the limelight from Hawkins?

She should have switched the first look for the second one and it would have been better.
