Natalie Portman In Christian Dior – ‘Planetarium’ Tokyo Premiere

I don’t know about you, but I have been unimpressed by Natalie Portman’s red carpet style during this trip to Asia.

Following her Dior photocall look, the actress attended the ‘Planetarium’ Tokyo premiere on Thursday (July 20) wearing a simple high neck Dior LBD.

I will never understand why an ambassador for a major fashion brand will display such little interest in fashion.

Simple doesn’t necessarily have to mean boring, but that’s the feeling I have when trying to find a positive from this look.

Not even the Dior ‘J’Adior’ slingbacks could save this look from feeling so underwhelming.

She represents what I call the Casual Fashion Paradox. The paradox being the more famous she gets the less interested on fashion she appears to be . That would be fine for me if she wasn t representing such iconic house and capitalizing on it.
    Ms Natalia Smug Portman.

I agree but I think that it’s not the more famous she gets, it’s the more serious that she thinks she becomes, the less she purports to care about fashion. Hence, the smugness.

you said it better than me.

At least Rihanna is interested in fashion. Even when she is a mess, she is not a bore. I don’t get why you would choose someone who doesn’t care about fashion and isn’t a trendsetter either. Boggles the mind!

      Agreed.

Totally agree with your comments. Natalie and Jennifer Lawrence do not have any interest in fashion and the Dior contact is all about money and publicity for red carpets, paid events/appearances and campaigns.

Their stylists probably have the best looks to choose from, but the final outcome is average and bland, likely based on the actresses not caring or having a desire to leave a memorable mark in fashion history.

Quite a shame considering how the rest of us here love fashion.
