Regina Hall In Tadashi Shoji – ‘Girls Trip’ LA Premiere

Regina Hall has showcased great style during her promo tour for ‘Girls Trip’, and that continued for the LA premiere on Thursday (July 13).

I’m sure many will be surprised to discover this is Tadashi Shoji.

Mostly because the designer rarely, if ever, flirts on the side of risqué, which this ocean blue voluminous crepe gown with a mandala embroidered bodice from the Spring 2017 collection more than suggests.

I saw the bold colour first, followed by how radiant Regina is here.

Yes, on the wrong person this may have come across less than favourable; luckily, Regina was the right person.

I think Regina is lovely…however something is not right. The dress is not for her, the hair looks stiff, the makeup too light. She is an attractive woman; this needs a do over.

I’m trying, but I find it is just tacky.

Either she is too short or the skirt is way too long. Doesn’t anyone do tailoring in LA?

I love this look from head-to-toe! Unlike everyone else I am a fan of the top knot, I think it fits right in with the playful vibe of the whole look!

I’m a little bit disappointed. I love this dress and have been waiting to see it on the red carpet but she doesn’t breathe any life into it. I wanted spectacular and this is just fine 🙁

Aw that slit with the lace is unfortunate. This was an amazing dress until thaat part. Adore that color!!! The top part is interesting. Her makeup is fantastic. Top knot is a no.
    So close.

Im in the minority here. It looks like something from a Turkish shop. Big NO.

Count me in the minority. I also strongly dislike what has been done to the transition between bodice and skirt.

        Weird, no ?

        • Schoolbea July 14, 2017 at 23:06 #

Very. Now the slit goes up to the waist (ugh) instead of the hip. And it’s very… pedestrian compared with the way it is resolved in the runway version.

I’m not too good at explaining these things, lol.

The lace underskirt looks like an unfortunate hip tattoo, and the train is a tad too long, but I can’t fault how fresh and radiant she looks.

I think she looks sensational, however the topknot is over-cooking this look. She looks 10x better if you scroll down just enough to chop off the top knot!

    • Dana July 14, 2017 at 19:37 #

I took your advice, and agree 100%- definitely better without the topknot!

I didn’t know that Tadashi Shoji ventured in sexy designs but it’s a pleasant surprise. I love the dress.
I would have chosen another type of bun but hairstyle aside, Regina wears it well.

I love this dress, playful, sexy and yet mostly covered. Would benefit from a slightly longer torso but whatever she looks great. The hair isn’t to my taste but I like the dress too much to care.
