Queen Letizia of Spain wears Felipe Varela to the State Banquet at Buckingham Palace

After kicking off her three-day visit in the UK with a trip to the Horse Guards Parade, Queen Letizia of Spain continued the tour on Wednesday (July 12) with afternoon tea at Clarence House followed by a State Banquet at the Palace with the senior members of the Royal family.

State Banquet: With Queen Elizabeth by her side, Queen Letizia was impeccably regal in a beautifully embellished gown from the Spanish designer, Felipe Varela, and a breathtaking Fleur de Lys tiara. She was decorated with the Order of Carlos III and she carried a Magrit ‘Mary’ red satin clutch. Not only do I adore the majestic red colour of the gown and its flattering off-the-shoulder neckline, I love that she paid homage to Spain with the designer.

As of yet, there are no pictures of Catherine, Duchess of Cambridge at the event. But, if you look closely, you can see her in the background donning a petal-pink Marchesa gown.

Tea at Clarence House: Before the State Banquet, Queen Letizia had tea with Charles and Camilla at Clarence House, where she donned another shade of red. This burgundy Burberry satin-back crepe, buckle trench dress was the perfectly modern vision of ladylike sophistication. Again, her styling was on point with a matching Menbur ‘Malva’ clutch and nude Prada pumps.

For me this a classy and regal look. She looks like a queen. BDOTW contender, and this looks goes in my BDOTY contender folder.

I haven’t left any comments lately as I’ve been really busy at work, but I HAD to comment because that red gown left me breathless. What a queen indeed!

Glad you featured the coat. As much as I LOVE seeing her in a ravishing-red evening gown I actually think the day outfit hit it out of the park even more.

i am normally not a big fan of her, but I like both dresses. She definitely dresses fairly modern for a princess.

Catherine’s dress has a beautiful neckline with a stunning necklace, but otherwise I looks very costumey.

I may be in the minority here but the design and appliqués on Letizia’s gown make it look really common…like a prom dress you’d find at JCPenney. I love the Burberry coat dress though.

      I agree.
Plus I find the huge tiara ridiculous and not flattering at all.

The Burberry dress is beautiful, love the color. The styling could have been better though, especially the matchy clutch.

Susie I agree – but I did like the cut and colour.

I know the point of this post is Queen Letizia… but huge kudos to you and the team for identifying Kate’s dress from such a blurry background shot! Can’t wait for more photos!
