Bee Shaffer In Alexander McQueen & Anna Wintour In Maison Margiela – 2017 Tony Awards

The 2017 Tony Awards took place on Sunday (June 11) in New York City, and everybody’s favourite mother and daughter duo were in attendance. Bee Shaffer and Anna Wintour both stunned in their respective gowns.

Bee Shaffer: Taken from the Fall 2017 Alexander McQueen Collection Bee’s dress is a riot of colour and texture. The hanging ribbons resemble tassels and give the look a grounded, effortless feel. The patchwork design feels traditional and highlights the incredible workmanship that went into the gown. I love Bee’s Irene Neuwirth jewels which mirror the cascading tassels and ribbons. The red lip and updo is the polished element this look needs to finish it perfectly.

Anna Wintour: There are some who may feel this look is a bit dated, but I love it. Classic and elegant, fashion’s matriarch wears an Anna’s Maison Margiela Spring 2017 Couture gown. Whilst the runway styling is more exciting and shows this dress to its full potential, next to Bee in her busy dress Anna looks perfectly poised. Some gold jewellery and the addition of the original runway waist-tie could have helped to finish this look.

Both are underwhelming and badly represent fashion IMO. Bee needs less make-up and the belt is sorely missed, and Anna needs new styling tricks- that necklace doesn’t go with every-damn-thing. Plus, in trying to ‘refine’ the Margiela design, it has lost it’s innovation and looks like a dusty 90’s nightmare.

I really like Bea’s look, I don’t miss the runway belt. Anna looks chic.

Bee’s gown feels slightly unflattering without the belt but it’s an awesome gown. As usual, I feel like the only person that really likes Anna’s look.

I actually almost always like Anna’s looks
I have had her Met gala looks on my BDOTY list a number of times before

Bee should have kept the belt.

    Anna’s look is meh.

I really like Bea’s look, although it took me a little while to decide that. As for Anna….yikes.

Bee has too much blush on, but I like her look overall. Anna’s dress looks…dusty somehow, like she just dug it out of the attic and threw it on. Not a fan.
