Marion Cotillard In Y/Project – ‘Ismael’s Ghosts’ Cannes Film Festival Photocall

Marion Cotillard kick started her 2017 Cannes Film Festival campaign with a photocall for ‘Ismael’s Ghosts (Les Fantomes d’Ismael)’ this afternoon (May 17) in Cannes, France.

This Y/Project Fall 2017 look may not go down with the majority, but personally this is what I wanted to see from Marion.

She has always been one of fashions daredevils, we just don’t get many opportunities to witness it.

While Glenn Martens’ deconstructed separates are definitely worthy of a street-style statement, the oversized slouchy silhouette of t-shirt and layered cuffed jeans work just as well on the French Riviera with heels adding some polish to the look.

Dying to know your thoughts as I find this very refreshing.

I actually think she made it work! It’s so cool

I get what she was going for, I just don’t like it. All her looks were bad today and made me miss seeing her in Dior. I wonder why she hasn’t been wearing it? Maybe her contract expired? Or maybe she doesn’t like the new direction? Either way, I’m not feeling her style lately

    I’m trying….but I just can’t

  5. Crystalline May 17, 2017 at 23:54 #

    Cool. But not for Cannes.

  6. Pheephee May 17, 2017 at 23:11 #

It looks like a extra long old nightie. I just can’t for Cannes. The pants are funky enough to like though.

I don’t like it nor hate it. Just neutral.

Love the jeans, wish there was more shape to the T-shirt/blouse/whatever that is.

Mmmmm no idea. I want to like it, the jeans really make it cool, but I don’t know, there’s just too much fabric there, and not particularly interesting fabric. I applaud the risk, she was original without looking ridiculous. It’s just not flattering, in my opinion.

I know fashion is about exploring and triying new things buuut….I can’t. I don’t like at all. It looks as if she tossed a sheet above the shoulder while she was wearing jeans to go to the store…I’m sorry, but this is a no from me.

    • Amanda May 17, 2017 at 21:48 #

Agreed how is a giant terrible t shirt edgy??

I always love what Marion Cotilard wears – her style is so versatile and so unique of her at the same time. Always love seeing what she wears at events 🙂
However, I don’t like this for Cannes. I think it would look great for another event, but not Cannes.

This is what fashion is all about, if every single person likes it, you’re playing it safe.

I totally agree with you. This is a really cool look, not for everyone. It would be so easy to wear an Elie Saab dress, but no. She played with it.

  14. Leeann May 17, 2017 at 15:14 #

I wear this to bed. No no no.

  15. TeaAtTwo May 17, 2017 at 14:43 #

I enjoy the funky side of Marion’s style. She looks cool.

I am surprises someone like Rihanna didn’t wear it first. Totally her style. I don’t know how I feel about MC wearing it though. Doesn’t look right to me.

  17. meme May 17, 2017 at 14:18 #

This is so unflattering and sloppy.

  18. JHH May 17, 2017 at 13:48 #

I love this. The jeans somehow make this work. I applaud the risk taking.

really digging the laid-back vibe here, those jeans sold this look to me.

I don’t know if anyone else could pull it off except maybe Rhiannon but I think she looks kinda cool
And at least it’s not boring black!!!

  21. Chris May 17, 2017 at 13:35 #

It’s interesting and has some sort of effortless parisian chic thing going on, but I can’t say I like these clothes.

    • Chris May 17, 2017 at 14:07 #

I feel like it’s growing on me, I sort of do like it now…

  22. amy May 17, 2017 at 13:30 #

you know what? I’ll take it. the shirt looks a bit like a tent but I applaud the risk. she gets a pass. love the jeans

    • Catherine Kallon May 17, 2017 at 13:34 #

Yeah, the jeans sold this look to me too

  23. Caroline May 17, 2017 at 13:08 #

It’s not Dior but I can’t get on board with this. Looks more like a Kids choices awards look than a Cannes look. No from me.
