Jessica Chastain In Alexander McQueen – ‘Ismael’s Ghosts’ Cannes Film Festival Premiere

Also gracing the red carpet of the 2017 Cannes Film Festival opening ceremony and premiere of ‘Ismael’s Ghosts on Wednesday (May 17), was Jessica Chastain.

The star wore a stunningly detailed Alexander McQueen Pre-Fall 2017 gown that held its own surrounded by a sea of fashionable moments.

While the intricately embroidered velvet bodice is certainly the talking point of this piece, what I can’t seem to tear my eyes from is the bottom of the bodice–the lines are so unique and so perfectly placed on Jessica’s legs, it is simply masterful design and tailoring work.

The actress opted for a slightly less sheer skirt than the lookbook version, which was tasteful and smart for the occasion, and every single carefully thought out styling element from her dazzling diamond and ruby collar necklace to her ruby lips and manicure are divine.

    Not working

I have very low expections when it comes to Jessica. I’m not expecting her to have a good run like some of the other jury members from the past. She’s simply not fashionable IMO.
So I’m not surprised by how lacklustre this is tbh.

she had me until I got to the hideous sheer skirt.
her beauty look and AMAZING jewels are perfect as always

That type of collar nevklace is not the best pairing to the already busy bodice. Hope she’ll excite us more on the precceding days…

This is nice but looks like a repeat of Emily’s dress

  6. Ari May 17, 2017 at 23:39 #

Sadly she’s 0 for 2 right now for me.

I don’t like it … its boring for Cannes in my opinion … it doesn’t have the WOW factor I expect from Jessica…

      +1

Ugly dress. Expectations are not met so far!

Not crazy about this but thankfully she didn’t go full sheer. I expected her to be spectacular opening night…too bad because she’s so gorgeous and so talented.

      Me too… Im very underwhelmed.

Really dislike this – it looks peculiar on her. But I’m not a fan of Chastain’s style at all. Still to be convinced.

The bodice reminded me to much of Emily Blunt’s Baftas dress http://www.redcarpet-fashionawards.com/2017/02/12/emily-blunt-alexander-mcqueen-2017-baftas/ to be stunned

    • Nat39 May 17, 2017 at 22:08 #

Beautiful, but yes, instantly reminded me of Emily as well.

    • alvarospain May 17, 2017 at 23:50 #

And Emily Blunt’s is similar to the Alexander McQueen that Cate Blanchett wore at the Baftas 2016, so…

    • Pheephee May 18, 2017 at 00:47 #

Yes. It immediately reminded me of Blunts dress so feels almost like a boring repeat to me. Its not Cannes worthy anyways. Im kind of surprised she chose this for her first day. Its a lil dreary.

Hope I’m wrong but I’m expecting a bunch of looks like this for her Cannes run: great hair and make-up, but when it comes to the gown it’s almost there, but not quite.

    • Sanya May 17, 2017 at 20:36 #

I like your comment. This is “almost there but not quite”.

  13. Saumya May 17, 2017 at 19:33 #

I love it, but I do admit to being ever so slightly disappointed. I was expecting something gasp worthy. This comes close, but not quite.

    • Alina May 17, 2017 at 19:46 #

I agree. It’s an enchanting outing and I love it, but I can’t help feeling a little disappointed.

  14. Caroline May 17, 2017 at 19:31 #

Nice but I was expecting so much more.

  15. Leandra May 17, 2017 at 19:30 #

This is horrendous. The bodice make her torso visually extra large and at the same time the legs look shortened. The proportions are twisted. Big deception.

  16. Chris May 17, 2017 at 19:23 #

So beautiful! I also loved her necklace and her beauty look was stunning in close-ups. So good, she looks pretty flawless. Such a classic red carpet moment.
