Deepika Padukone In Marchesa – ‘Ismael’s Ghosts’ Cannes Film Festival Premiere

Deepika Padukone made a moody appearance at the 2017 Cannes Film Festival opening ceremony and premiere of ‘Ismael’s Ghosts’ on Wednesday (May 17).

The ‘xXx: Return of Xander Cage’ actress wore a Marchesa Fall 2017 gown with a sweeping train.

I am really struck by the color of this gown. It’s so inky black with just a touch of purple infused into it, and reads so moody and unique on the carpet.

I am always a fan of the drama of Marchesa, and I love how they added a dose of sexiness into this dress with the crystal-incrusted under layers.

I’m slightly surprised to see Deepika wearing her hair down with such a formal look, but she is following a trend we’re seeing this year with slightly more undone beauty looks, and it really does work for her.

I actually love this look. The dress has a great colour and I love the sheer bottom half. Makeup could have been better. She’s one of the most beautiful woman in the world imo, but the makeup does her no justice here.

Too much hair and too much fabric. Looks like a broom. A big no.

The gown has intriguing details but I can’t help but wish that the embellished bodice was a full underlayer to the floor so that the beading could shimmer under the gauzy skirt- and I’m so sick of visible panties and see through skirts in general.

Despite those misgivings Deepika does look beautiful.

Her face is so meh, and that fried hair & oily makeup and tacky sheer is adding up to whole pile of underwhelming. The only plus is the color.

Tacky fried housewife look. Ugly marchese and she looks 40. Will never get her appeal, Sonam come save us.

    Forgettable! Next please?

with everyone going on and on about her beauty,my expectations built higher and higher before the opening ceremony, then she gave me this???
she dosen’t look bad at all,but I certainly didn’t get the wow factor from her.
A Marchesa sheer dress with embelishments is such a snoozefest.
Let’s see what she has in store for us next.

    Nice but easily forgettable.

Its really falling flat. Its okay but Im not wowed or even interested. Nothing stands out sadly.

I feel like on her the dress becomes so unimpressive and the hair/makeup makes it worse.

  12. Caroline May 17, 2017 at 23:18 #

Not bad but I’m not loving it.

Pretty dress but uninspired hair and make up… who is the lady behind her in that green dress?

  14. malluu May 17, 2017 at 22:02 #

Her jewellery is by de Grisgogono.

  15. Ale May 17, 2017 at 21:57 #

This was one of my favorities gowns from the collection.
She looks beautiful, but I have to say that this looks more “Amfar” than Cannes premiere.

  16. Nat39 May 17, 2017 at 21:41 #

She looks beautiful, nice and feminine, but this is rather boring, nothing exciting or memorable, unfortunately, I was hoping for a little bit more from her.

  17. Leandra May 17, 2017 at 21:39 #

I don’t see the appeal, really.

  18. Schoolbea May 17, 2017 at 21:33 #

I like it. And I usually don’t like Marchesa or sheer, but both the color and the intricateness of the bodice under the sheer fabric make me love it.

Usually I am against hair covering details of the dress, but I can’t really fault this. She looks wonderful.

  19. TeaAtTwo May 17, 2017 at 21:26 #

She should have worn her hair up or at least back. I prefer her Johanna ortiz look earlier.

It’s sheer therefore I don’t like it. So sick of sheer dresses and that green one behind her is a nightmare.

  21. Heidi May 17, 2017 at 21:12 #

She’s done this look so many times. Not what I hoped for. Where is Sonam, Aishwarya, & Blake Lively. The others are so boring this year.

    • Sauumye Chauhan May 17, 2017 at 22:35 #

Sonam is scheduled for after May 20 & Aishwarya I guess after May 18 or 19 .

  22. Chris May 17, 2017 at 21:04 #

A sheer Marchesa gown. Meh. Totally not what I hoped for.

  23. Juliana May 17, 2017 at 21:00 #

FC, there a better red carpet pictures of her.

  24. Alina May 17, 2017 at 20:58 #

I love the moody feeling of this. The colour of the dress is amazing, beauty look is on point and Deepika is working it.

She’s become my new one-to-watch at Cannes this year.
