Jennifer Lopez In Valentino – 2017 Met Gala

I will be the first to admit I did a double-take upon seeing Jennifer Lopez at the 2017 Met Gala on Monday (May 1) in New York City.

This could be more fabric than the entertainer has worn in all her previous looks combined.

Majorly dialing back the overt sex appeal that she favours by wearing this diaphanous Valentino gown, I have to applaud her for trying something new.

That said, I found this look to translate as the exact opposite of fashion-forward. Instead, it was rather dated—from its icy prom-blue colour, to J. Lo’s styling including the large diamond earrings, frosted lip, and half-up ’do.

There is nothing on this that I find attractive or exciting or event appropriate.

I love it – reminds me of my all time favourite J LO look, Valentino at the Oscars when Ben Affleck was her date.

Meh. My issue with jlo is how litteral her looks can be. Always too much, When she goes sexy it’s too bling, too showy. When she does princessy it’s a giant dress with sparkles, When she does this… Too much fabric, hair…she really has a problem with finding a balance

Definite Valley of the Dolls vibe – I like this style on her as it is different from her Julien McDonald style we recently saw but perhaps it was not right for the occasion. She looks beautiful though.

She looks ethereal. I agree that this is a Cannes look though.

Her makeup artist for this event, Scott Barnes, obviously wanted to create a retro look. But together with an already retro inspired dress and styling, it’s just too much and ends up looking dated

This is a miss for me.

I like it okay. Am happy she isn’t too stuck in the sheer trend.

I take this boring and safe look over her tacky Julien McDonald look anyday.

This is so OFF THEME though. For Cannes, yes. Not for this.

This is def feeling like Cannes. Would of been perfect.
And yes I also prefer this to her tacky try-hard dresses. She looks beautiful. love the color.

Totally agree. Barbarella-styling. Ideal for Cannes.

I know this is Jennifer Lopez and i never thought that I would say this about one of her outfits but other than the color, it is boring and matronly.

Sixties vibes mixed with frozen Disney princess

The highlighter on her forehead and nose is too much. I think this is lovely, but on JLo it’s wrong. However, wrong is Jennifer Lopez’s style, so it’s perfect.
