Wearable Art Gala

The Wearable Art Gala quite appropriately boasted of a few looks that were nothing short of art pieces themselves, as attendees took to the red carpet in LA on Saturday (April 29).

Beyonce Knowles: The singer didn’t let being pregnant with twins get in the way of stealing the show as she turned heads in a Stephanie Costello for Stello red long-sleeved dress with a plunging neckline that hugged her growing baby bump. But it was the elaborate headdress adorned with butterflies, flowers and dragonflies which really captured my attention.

Yara Shahidi: Her Victoria,Victoria Beckham blouse and jeans combo is a good look for her, yet was so off theme that I was left disappointed.

Michelle Williams: The artistry behind this silver, hand-beaded Esé Azénabor peplum gown was undeniable as it likewise beautifully contoured Michelle’s silhouette.

Serayah McNeill: Whereas the embellishment of Michelle’s gown landed on the sophisticated side, the same cannot be said for this Jenny Packham design that treaded on tacky territory with the oversized fringe jacket. Removing it would have been a step in the right direction.

Kelly Rowland: Matchy-matchy took on all new meaning with Kelly’s entrance to the gala, as it seems that coordinating dress colour and hair colour was her M.O. That said, this light lavender Monsoori gown was cotton candy personified, and even though we’ve seen fluffy ball gowns like this before, the whimsicality gets me every time.
