2017 Met Gala One-To-Watch: Sarah Jessica Parker

As we wait with bated breath for the 2017 Met Gala, Sarah Jessica Parker has been at the forefront of our red-carpet fashion daydreams.

And why shouldn’t she be? By any definition, she’s a Met regular with a number of memorable gala moments to her name. Even better? She always plays by the rules of the theme.

Take the 2015 Met Gala, for example, celebrating ‘China: Through the Looking Glass.’ Her robe-style gown was H&M, but its unexpected high-street label was nothing short of high fashion when combined with its crown jewel—a fiery, flame-ridden headdress by Philip Treacy.

One of my favourites from SJP was her Giles Deacon look in 2013 for ‘Punk: Chaos to Couture.’ Not only was the gown a metal-splattered masterpiece, her towering mohawk-inspired headpiece was on another level—literally. With over-the-knee boots, she was the punk-belle of the ball that night.

The classics came calling in 2014 for ‘Charles James: Beyond Fashion,’ and she answered the call in a dramatically refined Oscar de la Renta gown that was simply swept up in pure elegance.

And, a true oldie-but-goodie is her 2006 ‘Anglomania’ look, which saw her stay true to British form in tartan evening wear by Alexander McQueen complete with a flirty tulle underskirt that was perfect for the ‘Sex and the City’ fashionista.
