Charlize Theron In Christian Dior Couture – 2017 Oscars

Charlize Theron hit the red carpet of the 2017 Oscars on Sunday night (February 26).

The actress wore a shimmering Christian Dior gown from the Spring 2017 Couture collection with Chopard jewels.

I am really just not loving this gown. While the idea of the gold gown with the black tulle overlay is a good one, it just doesn’t translate well in real life, and it looks a bit too ‘oil slick’ for my taste.

Also, the modifications to the bodice actually make the gown a bit more boring. I mean, we have seen this silhouette so many times!

I do appreciate the mirth of Charlize’s earrings–massive diamond numbers that are intentionally mismatched, and her pert little ponytail. But other than that, I’m afraid this is a miss for me.

I like this is but this is nowhere near from what I expected from her.

I agree this is not her best look. It takes quite a lot for me not to like a Charlize look – but this is it. Quite a disappointment.

No matter what she wears, she’s always breathtakingly beautiful.

Such a statuesque figure, so much opportunities and she fails,

Honestly if she just had a more romantic, loosened hair and earring that actually correspond to her dress it would have been better but the main problem is the fit!

EITHER you do the plunge or you don’t! There is not in-between! That is what really killed the look!

It’s really a miss, for me. The dress is unflattering on her (it’s something really impossible but the bodice is pretty unflattering) and I don’t like the styling, not even those incredible earrings.

I liked the dress on the runway, but it didn’t translate all too well on Charlize. Such a shame, I usually love her Dior Oscar moments.

Very disappointing. The dress makes her look frame look much larger than it is.

This is dated and a big miss. I don’t like the fit through the bodice. I get not wanting to wear the deep plunge but if that is the case, pick another dress. This modification is very unflattering.

    Fire Maria!

Sorry I disagree, Maria is doing far better job Raf ever did!

Didn’t Caitriona Balfe already wear this?

  12. EmmaWoodhouse February 27, 2017 at 02:31 #

I like the texture/fabric, but the silhouette is doing nothing.

  13. Alison February 27, 2017 at 02:25 #

Agreed. She’s worn this exact style so many times before that it’s now boring. And the bodice makes her look so wide! Such a waste.

    Worst Dress!

  15. Christine February 27, 2017 at 02:24 #

Her red Dior last year was better.

  16. Chris February 27, 2017 at 02:22 #

I really like it, tbh. It’s not her best Oscars moment, but it’s nice enough.

    • Chris February 27, 2017 at 02:37 #

      Also, her earrings were epic.

    I can’t believe I’m saying this – Charlize doesn’t look good here. I agree, it’s a miss.
