Ava DuVernay In Ashi Studio Couture – 2017 Oscars

Ava DuVernay made quite the statement on the red carpet of the 2017 Oscars on Sunday night (February 26).

The director wore a graceful Ashi Studio Fall 2016 Couture gown with lace appliqué detailing.

First of all, can I just say a big ‘yes’ to gray on the red carpet? The shade is just dark enough to really distinguish it as gray versus silver, and I’m absolutely loving the unique color.

Ava’s gorgeous, long locs, smokey eye and diamond jewelry are the perfect complements to this dramatic look.

“First of all, can I just say a big ‘yes’ to gray on the red carpet?” That’s when I knew this wasn’t a Catherine post 😉

I definitely love this drama, and I agree, it was dark enough that it didn’t become bland.

She was beautiful in this – love!

I would have preferred her locs in an updo because of the high color and embroidery, but DAMN what a great dress! I love that more are wearing Ashi Studio…this is not just a princess moment but a queen moment. And in gray!

Wished her hair was up. She looks beautiful otherwise.

Although I wish she had swept her locs into an up-do, I like it. Very becoming, I am surprised that this color gray has so much appeal.

She looks gorgeous, the only thing I would change is to make the lace in the bodice just a bit more sheer/lined like in the lookbook, it would definitely lighten the dress up a bit.

Yes, the top part is a bit heavy looking. I am over sheer but this needed a bit more sheer.
