Janelle Monae In Thom Browne – Virtuosos Tribute

Janelle Monáe might as well have been a glittering trophy herself at the Virtuosos Tribute, hosted during the Santa Barbara International Film Festival on Saturday (February 4).

She used the occasion to step away from her signature black-and-white statements for a silver streak.

The Thom Browne Spring 2017 gown fused the surreal shine of a glitzy disco ball with a trompe l’oeil jacket and tie motif.

It’s a half-and-half, split personality dress, but Janelle never does anything halfway. So, she styled the dynamic look with a bold fuchsia lip and plenty more sparkle from jewelry and a smattering of hair jewels, too.

I was immediately reminded of a similar, black and white Thom Browne frock she wore to the Image Maker Awards. But, so novel was the colour of this silvery ensemble for her that it didn’t matter.
