Hilary Swank In J. Mendel – 2016 Breakthrough Prize Ceremony

Hilary Swank In J Mendel - 2016 Breakthrough Prize Ceremony

Hilary Swank attended the 2016 Breakthrough Prize Ceremony on Sunday (November 8) in Mountain View, California.

The actress wore a J. Mendel Spring 2016 jade and black printed strapless gown featuring a cut-out bustier and pleated asymmetrical skirt.

Sadly, I couldn’t get on board with this look and the skirt it to blame.

What was intended to add dynamism to the dress comes off a quite cumbersome and lopsided.

I love the coloring of this dress but the one side of the dress looks like it got caught up underneath. Sadly, it does just look lopsided.

I usually appreciate her choices for dressing outside the box, but I just don’t like this piece.

    I like it a lot!

I like it too. I think this is one of the few moment I like something from Hilary. Plus, she seems very relaxed.

I love this on the runway but the bust looks too wonky on Hilary. The dress lost all it’s appeal. Pretty hair and makeup though.

I mean, I don’t really like the dress itself but she looks cute. Nothing special, just nice.

On the runway, the dress looks beautiful. But, on Hilary it comes off as underwhelming

The pumps don’t go with the style of the dress.

As a gown and at Venice or Cannes, this could have worked.

  9. Yeliz November 9, 2015 at 12:45 #

It doesn’t quite work on her, I agree.

this frock would be much better as a gown on the red carpet. that type of dresses only work when you’re moving

It looks better on the runway in movement. Bedsides, not liking her styling of this dress.

I totally agree re: better in movement. That is the problem with dresses like this.

Very true. That’s why some are better left on the runway. Stylists don’t realize that! Lol
