Cheryl Fernandez-Versini In Ralph & Russo Couture – ‘Irrational Man’ Cannes Film Festival Premiere

Cheryl Fernandez-Versini In Ralph & Russo Couture - ‘Irrational Man’ Cannes Film Festival Premiere

Cheryl Fernandez-Versini attended the ‘Irrational Man’ premiere during the 68th annual Cannes Film Festival on Friday (May 15) in Cannes, France.

The singer wore a Ralph & Russo Spring 2015 Couture gown which had a more streamline silhouette over the runway look, courtesy of her column skirt.

I really wanted to love this, as the look is so very glamorous and elegant, but a part of me feels like this look ages her somewhat.

My first thought was, this would’ve looked great on Jane Fonda who has a more stately presence.

    I really like this look!

It’s Cannes, Cheryl wanted to be dramatic, I think the dress is stunning I love it and she looks radiant!

  3. Nirina Plunkett May 16, 2015 at 17:37 #

She looks stunning! But I agree, I think it’s the makeup & the high neck piece that age her too much.

  4. Noemi May 16, 2015 at 10:00 #

I think that the dress is gorgeous, she looks beautiful but this it makes her look older, most of all the neckline, there’s too much going on in the upper part of this gown.

It looks to me like by changing the draping/shape (and, by the looks of it, material) of the skirt, it makes the cape look too heavy in comparison.. With the lighter and softer drape of fabric in both the skirt and cape, I think Mrs. Fernandez-Versini could have looked stunning, but this just looks like it was made for a more old-school actress.

  6. EmmaWoodhouse May 15, 2015 at 22:39 #

It’s a bit tacky/costumey. I think it’s the bodice, the high neck, and her pose/presence here.

  7. Saudin May 15, 2015 at 21:51 #

She looks stunning, okay? So you all jealous heaters can shut the f*ck up….

    • Marcel May 15, 2015 at 22:03 #

Heaters ? what about learning basic English before cursing ?

    • Jerusa May 15, 2015 at 22:39 #

I think too that she looks flawless but hey everyone one is entitled to share their thoughts. One of the thing I enjoy the most about this site is how everyone is respectful and we hardly ever see corsing. No need for that.

      Anyone, yes, Cheryl looks beautiful!

  8. Nat39 May 15, 2015 at 21:20 #

Somehow she makes R&R Couture look like a tacky-ish over-the-top Versace, def. not working out here, and prefer the gracefully flowing skirt on the runway.

This is the dress equivalent of a beige leather sofa…. so naff. And matching beige shoes. UGh.

  10. Sandy May 15, 2015 at 20:59 #

Yes, while some changes were unnecessary I still absolutly love this

  11. Leti May 15, 2015 at 20:59 #

Better on the model, but I think no matter who’s wearing it, I’d like it better without the high neck. The back is stunning no matter what.

  12. Maria May 15, 2015 at 20:51 #

I’d like it better without the high neck. And the runway version is better…

  13. Marcel May 15, 2015 at 20:36 #

She lacks ” that thing” that makes a look glamorous. The ” je ne sais quoi”.
She is well dressed undoubtly but fails in the allure department.

    • Genevieve May 15, 2015 at 20:54 #

      Exactly. I couldn’t agree more.

    • Phoenix May 15, 2015 at 22:31 #

      +1 well said

  14. Fanny May 15, 2015 at 20:32 #

I think it’s the hair and make up that ages her, rather than the dress. The dress is quite beautiful and unique, I especially like it from the back, but the runway version is a bit softer and “younger” perhaps.

  15. Mary S. May 15, 2015 at 20:28 #

I really dislike her make up here the most TBH…

  16. Sunee May 15, 2015 at 20:27 #

I don´t like her, but I have to be fair. Not amazing, not spectacular but It looks good on her.

  17. Carolina May 15, 2015 at 20:27 #

This comes accross as a little try hard-ish for my taste. Plus, to me she’ll awlays be Cheryl Cole.

    • Carolina May 15, 2015 at 20:27 #

      Always*

  18. Alex V May 15, 2015 at 20:26 #

Nieves Alvarez this was YOURS honey, I wonder why Victor Blanco didn’t pick it up for her earlier

  19. Yeliz May 15, 2015 at 20:24 #

Not a fan. Even with the slit it looks matronly on her and I also find it a bit dated.

  20. from-chitown May 15, 2015 at 20:15 #

I agree with you FC. As soon as I saw the dress I thought it would look great on Sharon Stone. She doesn’t have the poise to pull it off.

    • Catherine Kallon May 15, 2015 at 20:19 #

YES. Sharon Stone would’ve been even better or Uma Thurman.

    • Phoenix May 15, 2015 at 22:33 #

Good call on Sharon Stone. She’s the only one I can picture this on now!

  21. Zineb May 15, 2015 at 20:13 #

I don’t agree, I think she looks incredible, I love the design of the gown, it’s different and she’s wearing it well

  22. jhh36 May 15, 2015 at 20:12 #

This dress is so much better on the the model. Every change made was for the worst — the slit and the belt and the loss of the draping and the changed fabric.

  23. Carrie May 15, 2015 at 20:10 #

I quite like it! The draping detailing on the back is gorgeous.

I do agree that this would have been perfect on Jane Fonda! Wow.

  24. Christine May 15, 2015 at 20:08 #

I want to like this but I don’t. The neck looks awkward.

  25. pinksugar May 15, 2015 at 20:05 #

She took a lot of the elegance away from the runway look but it is still a beautiful gown.

Oh, I love this dress on the model. She really ruined it.

    • justme May 15, 2015 at 20:18 #

      Seriously.
The skirt is beautiful on the model. Cheryl’s version is so basic in comparison :/

    • kane May 15, 2015 at 23:16 #

I fully agree. I must say though that although it’s her very own brand of vavavoom, she is at least delivering. Cannes hasn’t wowed me yet. Sure, there were some terrific things, but none that could last long enough for me to think “yup, this was a good day…”
