Kim Kardashian In Roberto Cavalli – 2015 Met Gala

"China: Through The Looking Glass" Costume Institute Benefit Gala - Arrivals

Kim Kardashian was also at the ‘China: Through the Looking Glass’ 2015 Met Gala held at the Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York City on Monday (May 4).

Her backless Roberto Cavalli white gown was designed by Peter Dundas in his first dress for Cavalli since returning to the fashion house.

Drama was this dress’s middle name what with its body-con allure and intricate lacy beading that cascaded into a mile-long train of wispy feathers.

Sheer seems to be one of Kim’s favourite looks, so I’m not surprised by the provocative, see-through quality of this confection. But it doesn’t put me off of simply appreciating the showy grandeur of the look on a night that merits all-or-nothing style.

Honestly, i think this fits her like a glove, as she had lots of fittings with Peter Dundas of Roberto Cavalli. The dress actually has a whole lot of chinese meanings, and i can see that she is trying to portray a chinese goddess. I am actually enamoured with the look, and if u guys actually notice, she’s NOT wearing black and something NOT two sizes smaller. A great look from her and Peter Dundas, gorgeous dress and a lot of attitude she’s giving to the table. She honestly looks like a Chinese Warrior Goddess! SLAAAY KIM!

I don’t understand why everyone seems to think that this is off-theme. If you really looked at the dress, you’d notice that the beading is done in a Chinese pattern.

It’s not the most flattering look on Kim, but Peter Dundas did an amazing job with the dress. It reminds me of his Spring 2013 collection for Pucci, but more dramatic.

Beyoncé did it better back in 2012

  4. Caroline May 5, 2015 at 17:11 #

I am surprised by how much I actually liked this. I know we’ve all seen this gown over and over on Beyonce and J Lo but I can clearly see how she did indeed get the inspiration from Cher’s iconic very first Met Gala gown. This was event AND theme appropiate, the tail did it for me. I was feeling this on her, I must say. She looked impresive.

  5. Alina May 5, 2015 at 16:07 #

    Unflattering and tacky.

  6. Nikki May 5, 2015 at 15:04 #

She actually looks nice for once.

  7. Jodie May 5, 2015 at 14:54 #

i think the dress is stunning and her hair and make up are beautiful. Also this is not a great picture to see that the dress actually makes her look so tiny, the dress from the back is even more stunning and shows off her figure so well. if u have a body like kim, bey or jlo why wouldn’t you show it off! I love all the dresses they wore. So much detail.

  8. Mimmi May 5, 2015 at 10:13 #

At least the dress is not 3 sizes too small, that’s gotta be something, right?

  9. Amy May 5, 2015 at 10:12 #

I’m just over the sheer embellished dress. sorry, we’eve seen every possible iteration of that dress. Honestly the dress makes her look wider than she is. not impressed.

  10. jayt May 5, 2015 at 08:49 #

    1. Such a nice improvement yet still a miss for me.
    2. WRONG THEME!!
    3. Dejavu’s overload yet still the gown is a work of art!

  11. Yeliz May 5, 2015 at 06:59 #

Beyonce, JLo and now Kim, what is it with them and sheer gowns? They all look the same to me: awful.

  12. mandy May 5, 2015 at 05:27 #

Cant wait for the Beyonce update. She and Kim dressed like twins. And that’s not a good thing cus for once Kim looks better.

    • Athena May 5, 2015 at 06:00 #

+1 I’m usually not a fan of Kim’s looks but I think this works for her. I do like it more than Beyonce’s 2012 look, and yes, I also think she looks better than Beyonce tonight.

  13. Jenn May 5, 2015 at 05:24 #

Ive seen Beyonce and Jlo wearing that dress before. LOLLL fail.

  14. jhh36 May 5, 2015 at 05:21 #

Not figure flattering but a nice try for Kim.

  15. EAR May 5, 2015 at 04:16 #

WOOOWW.!!! Absolutely stunning.! Slay Kim slay.!! The queen has returned.! BDOTY She has never looked better.!! Killed it this year.!

“People just love to jump on the bandwagon.”

No, more like people love to form their own OPINIONS and it’s just so happen we agree from time to time. How about that?

  17. Alex V May 5, 2015 at 04:09 #

She’s actually killing it! A pair of Givenchy shark tooth platform sandals would’ve favored this look to make her look taller and pull this dress in a better way. Nonetheless she looks breathtaking, I just wish the round embroidery above her boobs would’ve been in a heart shape or square shape to make her look skinnier.

  18. Maya May 5, 2015 at 04:08 #

I don’t watch reality TV. But I also don’t get why people have to hate someone for it! I think a lot of the criticism here has nothing to do with fashion. People just love to jump on the bandwagon. I don’t think she deserves the name calling! I don’t think anybody does.

About the dress: I think she looks pretty. The design definitely looks oriental. She is not my favorite of the night but she looks much better than many.

    • MEME May 5, 2015 at 20:35 #

Her criticism doesn’t stem from being on reality tv, it stems from the fact that she is a vapid, shameless attention seeker, who will do anything and everything for attention, not to mention she is nothing more than a glorified groupie/porn star. Some people just choose not to celebrate mediocrity.

  19. Hannah May 5, 2015 at 03:51 #

This is the 3rd Kim Kardashian look in a row I love! Who would’ve thought!?

    • Marcel May 5, 2015 at 09:49 #

you must be off your medication…

  20. Vanie May 5, 2015 at 03:50 #

Yes!! She’s back to being tacky! I was worried I would have to like her if she started dressing more like when she wore that Sophie Theallet dress.
    Tacky as ever
    Relieved!!!!

  21. justme May 5, 2015 at 03:22 #

I’m glad I’m not the only whose mind immediately went to Beyoncé’s Givenchy gown from 2012. Was it on purpose? Because that would be just creepy and sad.

Anyway, the gown makes Kim look very, very wide. She really doesn’t care about proportions when she picks her clothes, it’s surreal to me :/

  22. AJ May 5, 2015 at 03:19 #

Wow this woman can never catch a break from the critics! I think this is one of her BEST red carpet looks! She killed the carpet tonight! And Beyonce wasn’t the first to do a sheer dress with a feathered skirt, in fact I’m pretty sure Diane Kruger wore a dress that was purple with feathers to the same event years before Beyonce. Granted that dress was not sheer but this is hardly a copy of Beyonce’s gown either. And as far as tacky goes, Kim is definitely on the receiving end of some hate tonight but I’ve seen Beyonce’s down tonight and it’s far more revealing but something tells me she’ll get a pass for it. I don’t get why that happens. Sorry for the rant FC, but I was feeling passionate. Keep slaying Kim, and let haters hate!

    • AJ May 5, 2015 at 03:24 #

      *gown

    • AW May 5, 2015 at 03:40 #

Darling if you’ll notice from the other posts J.Lo and many others have not so glowing reviews. Clearly you’re entitled to your opinion but everyone that dislikes this gown isn’t a “hater” (btw that word is very 2008 unless you’re 17 years old).

Additionally, climb down off the cross, there’s not enough room up there for you, Kim and Jesus.

    • Carolina May 5, 2015 at 03:52 #

Honey the entire world thought of Beyoncé’s dress when Kim walked that red carpet.

  23. Phoenix May 5, 2015 at 03:19 #

I just dont get her. She never quite gets it. Which I dont understand when you can afford to have the best stylists around….. She looks like shes an Ice Capade skater (too long dress obviously but still). It does feel extremely deja vu and blah. Sigh. I just dont get it

  24. B May 5, 2015 at 03:10 #

This is basically a white version of the dress Beyonce wore a yr or two ago, even the hair is the same.
Aside from this not going with the theme, it doesn’t flatter her body at all. She always looks so boxy and uncomfortable and then there’s Kanye who looks like a little child who just wants to go home.

  25. Eva May 5, 2015 at 03:06 #

So dated! The theme was China not Vegas!

    • jayt May 5, 2015 at 08:45 #

    • George May 5, 2015 at 20:48 #

      +1000!!!

  26. Nat39 May 5, 2015 at 03:04 #

More of the same…She should concentrate on style instead of showing off her assets.

  27. Donna May 5, 2015 at 03:03 #

Her makeup and hair are great. But the gown…just like the Bey gown. And Kim is so short that it looks strange. She doesn’t seem to dress for her height/wacky proportions.

  28. Maria Fernanda May 5, 2015 at 03:02 #

I loved Peter Dundas in Pucci, I really do! What a shame that he went to Roberto Cavalli to make gowns for this tacky and fake woman! What a shame! Please Pete, come back to Pucci!

  29. EmmaWoodhouse May 5, 2015 at 03:02 #

Loathe. Just like JLo. Tacky, hideous. Unflattering. I would say I’m done with her, but I never started with her, so…there’s that.

  30. char May 5, 2015 at 03:00 #

Good God – NO! Beyonce was bad enough – this is just desperate and tacky

  31. Christine May 5, 2015 at 02:58 #

What kind of Beyonce Met Gala 2012 dress travesty realness is this???????????

Just to think she was *actually* doing good.

Of course, right?! Of course. Smh.

  32. Mahima May 5, 2015 at 02:58 #

Not only is this tacky and not go with the theme what so ever, but this look has been done multiple times by Kim, herself, and Beyonce and Ciara. It’s dated and needs to go away.

    • Laraine May 5, 2015 at 19:14 #

      +1

  33. AW May 5, 2015 at 02:58 #

Hair and makeup are pretty but the dress has been done. Beyonce’s feather gown was very similar from a few years ago. Also the nude underneath doesn’t match well.

    I prefer Kayne’s look…#kanyeshrug

    • Hannah May 5, 2015 at 03:34 #

Kim’s garments underneath are much better than Beyonce’s were though

      • AW May 5, 2015 at 03:48 #

        I agree with you.

I could have given Kim a pass if the garment matched more and her waist was nipped in about 3 inches.

    • pinksugar May 5, 2015 at 03:35 #

This is actually a great look for Kim, but it is SO a Beyonce ripoff it’s not even funny.

      • Jen May 5, 2015 at 03:43 #

It was actually inspired by Cher at the first ever Met Gala

  34. sophie May 5, 2015 at 02:57 #

This whole family has no taste, which is unsurprising, as famewhores rarely do.

This is the best Dundas could do?
