Michelle Obama In Tadashi Shoji – White House State Dinner

Michelle Obama In Tadashi Shoji - White House State Dinner

Michelle Obama attended the State Dinner in honour of Japanese Prime Minister Shinzo Abe and his wife, Akie Abe, on Tuesday (April 28) at the White House in Washington, D.C.

Regal in royal purple, the FLOTUS wore Octavia Spencer’s go-to designer in a Tadashi Shoji gown featuring tonal, feathery lace embroidery at the bodice cascading into beautiful, frothy layers of tulle.

Seeing this look on the runway made me crave the more fairy-like, diaphanous sheer effect of the original confection. But the dress was necessarily lined for the First Lady and the event.

Regardless, this offering still sees Michelle mixing refined elegance with fanciful femininity for a softer side to the more structured silhouette she occasionally favours.

A loosely undone updo and natural makeup contributed an effortless finishing touch to her entrance.
