Celebrity makeup artist Patrick Ta worked with Jenna Dewan-Tatum for the 2015 White House Correspondents’ Association Dinner on Saturday, (April 25) in Washington, DC.
Patrick said, “We wanted Jenna to look strong and bold for the White House Correspondents’ Dinner, so we went with a sultry but romantic eye and a bold matte red lip.”
Here’s how to get the look.
Patrick began by moisturizing her skin to allow a smooth application of the foundation.
He then applied Calvin Klein All Day Wear Foundation mixed with Becca Illuminating Primer to give good coverage and a healthy glow. To conceal under her eyes and highlight, he used Urban Decay Concealer in Light Neutral. To contour he used Chanel Cream Bronzer on the hollows of her cheek bones. He then set the entire face with La Mer Translucent Powder, because he knew it would be a long night and we needed her makeup to last.
He wanted to keep her cheeks from looking flushed, so he used a flesh tone colour on the apples of her cheeks.
For the eyes he applied MAC Paint Pot Primer to ensure the eyeshadow would stay all night without creasing. He used shadows from Kat Von D’s new matte neutral palette, starting off with a soft brown in the crease followed by a deeper brown on the outer crease. He decided on a winged liner to add a more dramatic touch and blended it out with the black shadow. He applied Ardell Lashes in Medium and Long to finish off the eyes.
