The socialite talks to the mag about everything from her take on social media at fashion shows to her long-term goal of owning a skiwear brand.

Perhaps styling is on the cards in Olivia’s future because when asked about head-to-runway looks, “How boring!” was her response.

This comes as no surprise considering Olivia is known for her artful signature mixing of high and low items and her keen eye for accessorizing.

Here are some extracts from her interview.

On her friendship MO: “I’ve always been someone that enjoys being around my elders more than people my own age.”

On her fashion philosophy: “You can always see it’s my sense of style at the end of the day.”

On her famous custom-made Carolina Herrera wedding ensemble: “I’m very much a fashion person. It was like going to any other market appointment and finding something I liked.”

On her stint as a reality TV villain on ‘The City’: “It was a learning experience that I got out of the way early.”

On the learning experience she got out of ‘The City’: “Once the cameras were out and I could go home, I decided to stay and sit in on global marketing meetings and really build my education. I asked if I could join out of curiosity and being young and wanting to learn.”

On why she started her website, OliviaPalermo.com: “The industry has changed so much in the last 10 years, especially with the move to online. Between online evolving and e-commerce growing, it was the perfect time to start my website.”

On how she gets ahead in business: “Success is never missing a day of work.”

On her #1 pet peeve – people snapping photos front-row: “You’re not focusing in the same way if you weren’t snapping away. Designers have worked too hard for you to take 25 pictures. Beautiful ones will be up on Style.com anyway!”

On her love of new design talent: “We really try to give young designers a platform on OliviaPalermo.com, highlighting their work and showing our support.”

On her future plans for Olivia Palermo world domination: “We’re fortunate to get a fair amount of [collaboration] requests. We will continue with that, but at some point it’s important to have everything under our own brand. There’s a long-term plan to it all, but everything comes in stages.”
