Best Ensemble Cast 2014 – ‘The Hunger Games: Mockingjay, Part 1’

Best Ensemble Cast 2014 – 'The Hunger Games Mockingjay, Part 1'

For the past two years, it’s been all about the game—‘The Hunger Games,’ that is, with the movie saga captivating our attention, not least because of its bevy of beauties who storm the red carpets across the globe for the promo tour of the latest installment.

Continuing their ‘Catching Fire’ Best Ensemble Cast victory from 2013, ‘The Hunger Games’ group was no less fashionable or fiery in 2014, yet again securing the status as your best ensemble cast as they promoted ‘Mockingjay, Part 1’ while jetsetting from London to Los Angeles, and New York City to Cannes.

The full set of femmes were all together, posing at the London world premiere. A rare group shot of the starlets showed off a motley mix of outfits that was anything but harmonious. However, it fully demonstrated the unique set of style personalities among the cast and the fact that they do little to coordinate their premiere looks—for better or worse.

While not everyone impressed—Natalie Dormer’s Nicholas Oakwell gown didn’t score high marks, although she later redeemed herself in L.A.—Jennifer Lawrence scored a rare hit in her pretty Christian Dior light-blue, high-low gown with black floral embroidery. Jena Malone was likewise radiant and intriguing in her Emilia Wickstead two-piece look grounded by a bright-yellow skirt. Even the movie’s ‘Yellow Flicker Beat’ singer Lorde joined the fun in a signature mannish, black-and-white ensemble by Schiaparelli.

Julianne Moore was likewise in top form in London, wearing a Balenciaga black gown with a woven cape–like detail. Yet none were so breathtaking as Elizabeth Banks in her painterly Elie Saab gown that was utterly enchanting.

Although the guys, including Josh Hutcherson, Liam Hemsworth, and Sam Claflin, also are due their own recognition for imparting a handsome, well-tailored spin to the ‘Mockingjay’ cast, no boys allowed here. After all, who needs them with this set of power girls.
