Valentino New York Sala Bianca 945 Event

Valentino New York Sala Bianca 945 Event

Maria Grazia Chiuri and Pierpaolo Piccioli hosted their first Valentino Haute Couture show in New York City on Wednesday (December 10).

The one-off special show, which was an homage to the designer’s famous 1968 white collection, was in celebration of Valentino’s Fifth Avenue flagship store, attracting many celebrity guests who are all big fans of the brand.

Emma Roberts: The young actress instantly caught my eye in her uber-sweet Valentino sugary pink frock with flared cuffs and a multicoloured floral collar. While I love the contrasting mauve Valentino clutch, the Valentino taupe pumps don’t work for me.

Padma Lakshmi: The TV host never fails to provide a jaw-dropping moment, this time wearing a super-sweet Valentino orange-hued mini dress amped up with a pair of sexy black over-the-knee boots.

Karolina Kurkova: I was charmed by the statuesque beauty, who was serving up lace and colourful florals. Her bold, intricate look was enhanced with red pumps, which matched her glossy lips, and a hot-pink clutch. She can do no wrong.

Olivia Munn: The ‘Newsroom’ actress, like Padma, opted for a breathtaking orange hue. The dress some might deem too twee, but I’m loving the flirty appeal. The orange lip is to die for, as is the colourful butterfly-print Valentino clutch for an interesting contrast, but the Rockstuds are not working for me here; neither the colour nor the style gel as well as I would’ve hoped.

Sofia Coppola: I’m not surprised to see the director keep to a more subtle colour palette and style. The only flourish here is the coloured feathered collar on her costume Valentino frock.

Nicky Hilton: The socialite, who often wears Valentino, was not a surprise guest at this event. Wearing a Resort 2015 colourful striped coat, some might deem this look an eyesore, but I’m enjoying the mix of colours and, unlike Olivia, the Rockstuds were perfectly in tune with the look.

Katie Holmes: With so much colour on this red carpet, Katie took a more muted approach, wearing a Valentino Resort 2015 dress comprising a simple black top with a black pleated skirt accented with red stitchwork. Once again the nude shoes don’t work with the look, but I do love the red Valentino clutch.

Olivia Palermo: The socialite, who is a close personal friend of Valentino Garavani, wore a Pre-Fall 2014 cropped jumpsuit with a lace bodice for a look that was decidedly more risqué than we are used to. As much as I love Olivia for her keen eye for accessorizing, I want to strip back a lot of what she has going on here, starting with those feather-accented Aquazzura Madison pumps and the Charlotte Simone Popsicle fur stole.

Jaime King: The actress wore a Valentino Resort 2015 colour-block dress, which when you look at the other attendees feels a bit like she was overdressed.
