Louis Vuitton Monogram Celebration

Louis Vuitton Monogram Celebration

A host of stars joined Nicole Kidman on the red carpet for the Louis Vuitton Monogram celebration held at the Museum of Modern Art on Friday (November 7) in New York City.

Miranda Kerr: As you know, the model has been trying to shake off her known for style and present much edgier red carpet looks. While Miranda might be just wearing a sheer top and printed skirt from Louis Vuitton’s Spring 2015 collection, she’s not selling this look to me as she doesn’t strike me as an LV girl under the helm of Nicolas Ghesquière. The LV Fall 2013 or LV Spring 2013 collections are more suited to her ultra-femme style.

Jennifer Connelly: The actress is still going full steam ahead with the Louis Vuitton Spring 2014 collection, wearing a trompe l’oeil mini dress with lace tights and boots while carrying an LV minaudière. While I can’t deny how great she does look, I can’t help thinking how terribly bored her stylist must be at the moment to be working in such narrow confinement.

Charlotte Gainsbourg: Between Jennifer and Charlotte this LV Spring 2015 collection will be used up by Christmas, which might not be such a bad thing. Like a true Ghesquière disciple the French actress wore the runway look in its entirety, and while I have a been-there done-that feeling about this look, she’s working the hell out of it, therefore forcing me to buy what she’s selling.

Haley Bennett: While Haley might be unknown in some quarters, the actress is loved by the brand, with this being her third Nicolas Ghesquière for Louis Vuitton look – you may remember she was also front and centre at the Spring 2015 show. Her mesh Spring 2015 long-sleeved dress with contrasting panels is perhaps one of the more favourable looks, with its sporty appeal and simple styling.

Chloe Sevigny: While my first thought was ‘now this is more like it’ – because other than Charlotte, Chloe is perhaps one of the few who could make just about any piece from Louis Vuitton under the helm of Nicolas Ghesquière work – I was surprised by her simpler choice of a dainty white mesh dress. The boots do give the look an edge, as too does the stripy shoulder bag.

Adele Exarchopoulos: The French beauty, who has worn LV on the red carpet on several occasions, also selected a look from the Spring 2015 collection, donning a sexy mesh body-con dress styled with the LV ‘Twisted Box’ bag which has become a favourite with Rihanna. The only thing ruining this look, aside from her not wearing her hair up, are those God awful LV booties we saw Jennifer Connelly wearing last week.

Ashley Olsen: Despite being a Louis Vuitton fest, the designer wore a Dries van Noten Fall 2014 print dress styled with a camel suede coat and Louboutins designed by the gentleman standing beside her. The only hint of LV came via her top-handle monogram bag from the collection which the event was celebrating.

Sofia Coppola: As you would expect, Sofia was the very epitome of elegance, wearing a navy Louis Vuitton dress styled with her own clutch for the brand. Anyone surprised to see her not wearing the current collection?

Catherine Deneuve: Unlike Sofia, Catherine did wear the current collection, and unlike Nicole Kidman’s look, it wasn’t modified. While I would lose the shoes, I do love the edge the clutch gives to the look.

Who, if anyone, was your best dressed at this event?
