Nicole Kidman In Roberto Cavalli – 2014 CMA Awards

Nicole Kidman In Roberto Cavalli - 2014 CMA Awards

Nicole Kidman attended the 48th annual CMA Awards held at the Bridgestone Arena on Wednesday (November 5) in Nashville, Tennessee alongside hubby Keith Urban.

While she’s not quite serving up the glamour-goddess I was expecting, I’m by no means less enthused by this breathtaking boho offering from Roberto Cavalli.

When she slays, she slays, and this romantic white embroidered gown proves just what a fashion icon she is. No pouffy ball gown needed.

Soft romantic waves and Fred Leighton jewels rounded out this breathtaking look, which is my second favourite from her this year following her Dolce & Gabbana dazzler.

Who knew Cavalli did soft and romantic?

Not working for me. This doesn’t look glamorous at all; on the contrary it’s very curtain/lace doily.

This looks like a poor man’s Valentino ‘Little House On The Prairie’ gown.

I think I would like to see this a little more fitted, and the flower placements are a bit distracting. But there’s no denying she looks utterly beautiful. Her hair and makeup is perfect.

HORRENDOUS. It reminds me a Victorian night gown. And those flowers strategically placed on the nipples ?? Is that real ? Gosh, I am aghast on her decision picking up this nightmare.
To me, it is her worse look EVER.

  13. Yeliz November 6, 2014 at 13:06 #

This doesn’t work. Especially the top part of the gown looks awkward.

  14. Bailey November 6, 2014 at 13:04 #

I actually don’t mind this. Given that I havent liked any of her recent looks, this is a nice surprise!

I love how feminine, romantic and ethereal this looks!
The hair and jewelry are perfect compliment.

At first glance it’s impossible not to immediately think of Valentino. That said she is totally working this gorgeous gown. J’adore.

This is a no. Awkward placement on the nipple area too. Oh no

We’ve come a long way for Kidman and Cavalli to be in the same sentence.
To be fair both have evolved over the years. The Cavalli runway is these days more filled with romantic, gypsy, flowy dresses than glamazon, sequined sexy numbers (though the stores still very much have these). Kidman’s fashion choices have veered away from the French brands she favoured in the early 2000s (Chanel, Balenciaga, Dior, Rochas etc.) to Italian brands (Armani, Valentino, Dolce, Fendi, Pucci and now Cavalli).
Some would argue that this is part of a normal evolution of a designer aesthetic and a person’s personal style.
I think that while this number looks chic, ethereal and special on Kidman, this Cavalli-Kidman just doesn’t make much fashion sense.
However what I do think makes sense is conceptually this is not a nominee dress, this is more of a plus one dress – which probably answers why she is “not quite serving up the glamour-goddess” you were expecting FC – and I believe that this approach is appropriate when she is at these music events to support her husband

Excellent comment, but maybe she should take note of Camilla Alves’s choices as a plus one. This gown is beautiful and etheral but I think it does not suit Kidman’s style.

Gorgeous!! Gowns like this are more to my liking than the tight, sparkly variety. I love how soft, romantic and chic it is.
Best she’s looked in a while

Gorgeous gown. It’s not all about over the top drama. She totally nailed the look for a plus one.

Grandma’s tablecloth or nightgown. A bit too bland for her.
