Menswear Red Carpet Roundup

With Canada’s 2014 Toronto International Film Festival and New York City’s Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week Spring 2015 in full swing, the men were out in force for a host of appearances over the past few days.

Andrew Garfield
: The actor attended the TIFF ’99 Homes’ premiere in a Burberry Tailoring three-piece charcoal suit with a traditional dark tie and dove-grey button-down. The suit was immaculate; the scruff was mountain man.

David Beckham: The soccer stud always cuts an impressive profile, and such was the case while he was out in New York City following wife Victoria Beckham’s Fashion Week show. He wore a black Dior Homme wool slim-shawl-collar tuxedo and white cotton shirt. The tux had nothing on him, as he looked every bit the cool customer with the relaxed fit and tie-less styling.

Jason Bateman: Attending the ‘This Is Where I Leave You’ TIFF premiere with his wife Amanda Anka, the actor worked a clean-cut Dior Homme black wool suit with a white cotton shirt and a skinny black silk tie. It was also a great canvas for Amanda’s pretty Dior Spring 2014 metallic frock.

Omar Sy: At the ‘Samba’ TIFF premiere, Omar wore a Dior Homme navy wool and silk suit with a pale blue cotton shirt. The colours were great, but I was missing something here. Perhaps a pocket square or patent loafers to replace his more dull black pair.

Adam Driver: The ‘Girls’ actor was also at the ‘This Is Where I Leave You’ TIFF premiere, dressed to impress in a Dior Homme navy wool two-button notch lapel suit, which fit him like a glove. I love the mix of navy and the light lavender button-down shirt for an interesting twist on the traditional.

Justin Long: Taking a high-street approach, the actor wore an H&M midnight-navy suit at the ‘Tusk’ TIFF premiere with black loafers. From the slightly askance tie, to the slouchy fit, this look needed a couple of nips and tucks.

Scott Haze: The actor was totally suave in a Valentino outing at ‘The Sound And The Fury’ TIFF premiere. The rich royal-blue hue of the suiting mixed with the contrasting dark lapels and tie were a standout, but couldn’t hold a candle to that steely blue-eyed stare.

Daniel Bruhl: Looking like he could have just stepped out of a business-casual meeting at ‘The Face of An Angel’ TIFF premiere. Daniel’s interpretation of this charcoal Burberry Tailoring suit and baby-blue shirt was far more standard-issue than to my liking. Sometimes an unbuttoned, tie-less look will work; this was not one of those times.
