Michelle Monaghan In Giambattista Valli Couture – 2014 Emmy Awards

Michelle Monaghan In Giambattista Valli Couture – 2014 Emmy Awards

Michelle Monaghan, who made an impact this year as Maggie in ‘True Detective,’ was part of the all-white fashion trend at the 2014 Emmy Awards on Monday (August 25) at Nokia Theatre in Los Angeles.

Michelle’s simple long-sleeved gown from Giambattista Valli Fall 2014 Couture allowed her to reveal a flash of leg thanks to a front-split skirt. Her loose wavy hair and gold Christian Louboutin ‘Just On’ sandals add a touch of Hollywood glamour. Other accessories include a metallic M2Malletier clutch and Irene Neuwirth jewelry.

The runway version of this look included a gold medallion belt and long matching cape. Do you favor Michelle’s pared-down version?

While I prefer the red carpet outfit, I think Michelle’s version suits her style better. She looks fresh, clean and beautiful.

+1. I think she’s never looked better. And I don’t miss the belt at all.

I’m totally missing that belt :(

Michelle’s oversimplified version is too plain and fails to excite – it’s been completely stripped of everything that made it more special. She could’ve at least added a belt. Would like to see the runway version some time in winter.

…and the chunky ankle-strap is distracting.

Should have kept the belt award…

Totally agree with you. She removed everything that made the gown special. She should have at least kept the belt

I think she looks flawless, and I also adore the runway look. I am thinking that had she gone the cape, it would have been too reminiscent of Gwyneth’s Tom Ford look at the Oscars.

I am glad she ditched the cape. It would be too much.

The whole ensemble on the runway is beautiful but it lacks on Michelle without the belt and cape. Not that I expected her to wear them to the Emmys.

The best white outfit last night. It looked so much more sophisticated than a runway version.

Not liking the accessories, but I like everything else

  9. sophie August 26, 2014 at 14:18 #

I love everything but the ugly shoes.

  10. sanette August 26, 2014 at 15:24 #

    It’s really missing the belt.

  11. Anj August 26, 2014 at 16:11 #

I really love her outfit. It works for her but I wish she wore more inspiring shoes.

Love this! Classic, clean and chic!

This seems way too hot for the weather. That’s all I can think.

She looks beautiful. The cleanness of the look is what is remarkable but she should have most definitely kept the belt.

The shoes are killing me – they look they are killing her too!! So ill-fitting – they couldn’t find a pair of gold shoes that fit her? I like the gown but I do agree that she stripped away a lot of what made it interesting.

  16. TeaAtTwo August 27, 2014 at 21:20 #

I really wish she had kept the belt.

    Runway for me please.
