Maggie Gyllenhaal made her second appearance on the red carpet this week, this time for Sundance TV’s ‘The Honourable Woman’ screening held at the Crosby Street Hotel on Wednesday (July 23) in New York City.
The actress wore a Roland Mouret ‘Hornet’ halter dress from the Fall 2014 Collection featuring thick black straps, signature folds and an intricate embroidered patterned lace overlay.
The usual simple styling applies here, with a glossy lip colour providing the finishing touches.
I know some aren’t too fond of calf-length dresses, but I think Maggie is statuesque enough to pull off this length. Do you agree?

I like the look except she needed stunning stud diamond earrings. Her earrings are too boring.
I would have picked minimalist strappy sandals but she looks charming.
I like this on her, but I agree with bisbee that if she had just hemmed it up 3 inches it would have been spectacular. And maybe worn a more colorful lipstick.
If this were truly calf-length I would agree…but it’s not…it’s somewhere in between. It hovers right above the ankles…it needs to be about 2 – 3 inches shorter.
Completely agree
I think she’s tall enough for the length, which I like. She looks good, though a little timid on this occasion. In some cases, it’s really the shoes that under mine the length. A high sandal is risky. The deep front pumps look good.
Better than her last look
Certainly one of her better looks. I like it.
+1
I like calf-length dresses and this one looks beautiful on Maggie. I would’ve preferred sandals but she looks great nonetheless.
I agree. This works for her and her style.
