Emma Stone In Dolce & Gabbana – ‘Magic In The Moonlight’ New York Premiere

Emma Stone In Dolce & Gabbana - ‘Magic In The Moonlight’ New York Premiere

Emma Stone attended the ‘Magic In The Moonlight’ premiere held at the Paris Theater on Thursday (July 17) in New York City following her taped appearance on the Jon Stewart show.

The actress wore a Dolce & Gabbana floral- and owl-print violet frock which is shorter than the look we saw on the runway, cut from light-as-air silk chiffon with a pleated skirt for extra volume.

Balancing femininity and sensuality to great effect, her frock was styled with Dolce & Gabbana tan shoes – breaking her Louboutin run – with jewels from Neil Lane and Vita Fede.

Tousled waves and flawless makeup completed her look.

It looks better on the runway. Was expecting more from her

Lovely. The color looks great on her. Love the shoes as well.
However, I was expecting a bit more for the premiere.

I think this is one of those dresses that look so much better in motion. Even so, I really like this outfit – romantic, feminine and beautiful.

P.S.: I was searching the list of movies from this year’s Venice Film Festival and… Good news! Emma’s movie, “Birdman”, is going to open the Festival. Can’t wait! :D

how exciting. I am expecting big things from that festival as Cannes didn’t quite live up to its billing

Me too. Hoping for a big name to appear in the jury – maybe Jessica Chastain. :)

Love the dress on the runway but it loses its effect on her

She’s lovely but her hair should be up..

I agree Stel and with TeaAtTwo- her hair needed to be up. It looks kinda messy and in other pictures has a bit of what looks like frizz. The violet is gorgeous on her complexion.

I think the gown looks better in motion but I don’t have anything against it on Emma. This wasn’t really what I was expecting but she looks delightful. Loving the shoes.

I love it. I’ve been really into prints lately so this is right up my alley. Her hair looks amazing, too.

  8. TeaAtTwo July 18, 2014 at 16:36 #

I love the violet against her colouring.

  9. Rebecca Z July 18, 2014 at 16:53 #

Very pretty–somehow the busy shoes work with this busy print.

What a disappointment. I was hoping for some magic, not a mumsy floral dress. The enticing flowy, delicate and romantic feel of the look is completely lost in Emma’s shortened, fully lined version and those tan shoes look bad. I have no doubt, Keira Knightly (who is always on point as far as the lining goes) would’ve shown how this dress should’ve been worn. I’m beyond disappointed. She can do better.

…also see this dress (runway version) on someone like Florence Welch.

I am not a huge fan of D&G in general, it all begins to look the same to me. This dress is busy and frumpy and sadly ages her. I had much higher expectations for this event.

    • Nat39 July 18, 2014 at 22:07 #

Too grandma/frumpy for her, ditto. That’s not what I expected.

  12. Prudence July 19, 2014 at 02:24 #

this would be great on a pregnant lady, on her its frumpy and aging. her constant disappointment continues.

Props to Emma for never dressing for anyone else but herself! and keep us guessing……that to me is true to her personality, I love the shoes and I like that she didn’t overdressed for the domestic premiere, she went with something simple and cute but with a bold color & print.
