Katherine Heigl for Marie Claire UK August 2014

Having quit Hollywood back in 2009 to focus on her family, Katherine Heigl is still landing covers: namely, the Marie Claire UK August 2014 issue.

The rom-com queen looks stunning on the cover wearing a lace-accented Christian Dior Fall 2014 electric-blue dress which really pops.

In her interview she gives us an insight into why she quit Hollywood, taking on too many rom-coms and the next chapter in her life.

Here are some extracts from her interview.

On feeling betrayed by her career: “The thing that was my best friend for a long time [my career] suddenly turned on me and I didn’t expect it. I was taken by surprise and angry at it for betraying me. I had a moment where, I don’t know, I was thinking, ‘Maybe open a knitting store, get my money out of retirement accounts and live off that, live off the land.’ I had my moment where it all seemed so complicated and all I wanted to do was simplify.”

On making too many rom coms: “I had an amazing time. I love romantic comedies. But maybe I hit it a little too hard. I couldn’t say no. I stopped challenging myself. It became a bit by rote and, as a creative person, that can wear you down.”

On her next phase: “There’s a part of me that’s a Hollywood animal as well. I can’t wait to get into the writer’s room and see how we do this. I feel like I’m finally rolling into the next phase of my adulthood.”

Isn’t this the same dress that Charlize Theron wore on the cover of Vogue June 2014?

    • Lee Ann July 3, 2014 at 13:10 #

      It is similiar-Charlize’s was black.

Charlize’s one on the cover of American Vogue is the same in navy! Nevertheless it’s a stunning dress in both color! And Charlize especially looks gorgeous!!

That is a great colour for her!

I think she’s getting some press because of the new TV series she has coming this fall.

Lmao, I think Hollywood quit her but whatever. She does look stunning on this cover, looks like she’s back in business.

That’s what I was thinking too. Excessive photoshopping?

      • cherrysoftness July 4, 2014 at 02:39 #

I was really confused, too. Did her face just change (it has been a while) or did they try to Photoshop her into Charlize Theron? Some parts of her face look painted on.

      • Nawny July 7, 2014 at 07:06 #

Yeah, someone definitely went way overboard with the photoshopping. She’s a very pretty woman, why on earth would they do that? Not just her face, her body as well.

How did she quit in 2009 when she had all these films release in 2010. 2011. 2012 One for the Money and 2013 The Big Wedding. I’m missing something here wtheckkk

Katherine has and always will be a beautiful woman. She looks great here, and this blue is definitely her color.

But Katherine needs to acknowledge that Hollywood was tired of her and her diva behavior. She has a rep for being horribly unpleasant, and had burnt quite a few bridges – Shonda Rhimes being the best example. I honestly didn’t miss her, and don’t care to have her and her entitled attitude back. Pity she got this cover when model or other ore deserving actress could’ve gotten it

Never liked her as an actress. But the dress is amazing! Wonderful colour and cut!

FC: How come you haven’t done a post on Lupita Nyong’o’s US Vogue cover and interview?!

I could never trust this woman again after how ignorant she got while on Grey’s Anatomy. Her sense of entitlement is epic and it’s clear she still doesn’t seem to see her role in the fiasco that is her career. I think hollywood has the right idea. She’s not worth the trouble.
