Get The Look: Keira Knightley’s ‘Begin Again’ New York Premiere Soft Glamorous Waves

Keira Knightley attended the New York Premiere of her latest film Wednesday (June 25) in a beautiful Valentino dress.

While the navy number was enough to wow onlookers, it was her soft tousled hairstyle that truly pulled the full look together.

Celebrity hairstylist Ben Skervin aimed to create a glamorous yet elegantly waved look without looking too harsh.

Ben was inspired by the flowing movement of her dress and felt that Keira’s hair should look and move similarly without losing its shape.

The final classically tousled waved hairstyle perfectly complemented her bold look of the evening.

Using products from the Vidal Sassoon Pro Series, here is how you can recreate this versatile hairstyle yourself:

Prep: After a proper wash and conditioning, Keira’s damp hair was prepped with Vidal Sassoon Pro Series Boost & Lift Foaming Air Mousse. Using a tennis ball amount of product, Ben applied the mousse throughout the hair at the roots and lengths for soft, touchable volume.

Style: Once mousse is evenly distributed, he neatly blow dried her hair in sections with a medium round brush. The barreled shaped of the brush helps lift the hair at the roots and gives hair added volume you’d otherwise lose if using a flat brush. Once hair is fully dried and evenly blown out, set hair in a centered part.

Wave: To create Keira’s perfect waves, Ben used a 1-inch barrel curling iron throughout the hair. He sprayed each 1 inch section with Vidal Sassoon Pro Series Flexible Hold Hairspray before wrapping each section of hair down the iron. Using this method in place of the classic style of coiling hair up the iron created a soft and polished wave as opposed to a pristine curl. Once each section is set around the iron, release and let cool.

Once hair has sufficiently cooled, give it a naturally tousled look by running fingers through the hair which breaks up the the flawlessly set waves and loosens it up.

Finish: To finish the look, spray hair with a texturizing spray like Vidal Sassoon Pro Series Repair & Finish Spray at the roots for a relaxed and perfectly disheveled look that lasts all evening.
