Li Bingbing In Stéphane Rolland Couture – ‘Transformers: Age of Extinction’ Shanghai Premiere

"Transformers" Shanghai Premiere

Li Bingbing the ‘Transformers : Age Of Extinction’ Shanghai premiere held at Shanghai Grand Theatre on Sunday (June 22) in Shanghai, China alongside co-star Nicola Peltz.

The Asian beauty wore another Stephane Rolland Spring 2014 Couture gown.

There was perhaps a total of three of us who liked her previous look for its uniqueness and sculptural brilliance; on this occasion, though, put me in the dislike category.

I’m neither a fan of the colour or the ruffle detail, and this time the sheer panel in the skirt doesn’t work.

I don’t know how to fluff this, so I will just go ahead and say that I feel the gown looks really cheap.

I was dying to see this dress on the red carpet, now I take my words back. The dress ruffles are beyond tacky and the top is poorly fitted. She needed the runway heels.

NO NO NO. Terrible dress. When will the sheer go away?

  3. Alina June 23, 2014 at 14:42 #

These gowns seem to work WAY BETTER on the runway.

+ 1 and another idea sometimes the photo angels make us dont like dresses.

  4. Marcel June 23, 2014 at 14:43 #

There were a few really stunning looks in this collection. It is difficult to understand why she chose the less flattering ones.
I like the ruffles, actually. The fitting of the top is off, the color is not going with her skin tone and the sheer panel was the strike that killed the look.

  5. Prudence June 23, 2014 at 14:50 #

NO NO NO. Nothing here is working for me

  6. TeaAtTwo June 23, 2014 at 14:59 #

It looks wonderful on the runway but on Li I wish the panel had been filled in. But she does look pretty in yellow.

She is not making these dresses work

  7. Nat39 June 23, 2014 at 14:59 #

I totally loved the skirt of her previous Stephane Roland couture gown – the unique panel and detailing – it worked imo. This doesn’t do it for me either, and the real problem here once again is that she just simply doesn’t have what it takes to pull off these ‘difficult’ creations imo – you gotta have height, legs and more fierce presence, these gowns don’t work on her, she should leave them alone.

    • Lashae June 23, 2014 at 15:02 #

+1, she’s just not tall enough for this dress

    • Nat39 June 23, 2014 at 18:52 #

just wanna add… in this design, the skirt actually doesn’t bother me, she just once again doesn’t have the lengthy legs to pull it off (same as with her other look), it’s that panel on the bodice that looks cheap.

    • Marybeth June 23, 2014 at 19:08 #

I agree. The problem with the dress itself is not the skirt, but that silly panel on the bodice.

I also agree that, even minus the panel, this dress really requires someone quite tall for a proper presentation.

i love it! gorgeous color and design!

  9. Peony June 23, 2014 at 15:23 #

The gown she’s wearing looks like a Project Runway knock-off of the runway version! Perhaps just one of those pieces that doesn’t translate well to the red carpet.

  10. Nicky June 23, 2014 at 15:52 #

I’m okay with it waist down, but it looks like she tucked a cheap t-shirt in. I agree that his pieces don’t translate very well to the RC.

    Only like the color.

  12. Mayra June 23, 2014 at 16:29 #

For me, this looks like she’s drowning in yellow fabric while wearing a nice top.

  13. tuftufwang June 23, 2014 at 17:19 #

    I actually love this dress.

  14. Cássia June 23, 2014 at 17:21 #

The sheer panel on the skirt ruins the gown…

  15. Pedro June 23, 2014 at 18:03 #

    She looks terrible!

    That’s sad

  16. Yeliz June 23, 2014 at 18:16 #

What is it with her and these semi-sheer Rolland gowns which clearly don’t work on the red carpet? Well, the previous one didn’t work on the runway either, but I do like this one on the runway but not on Li. Not at all.

  17. sophie June 23, 2014 at 18:21 #

She is too short and the color isn’t as bright on the runway. I don’t think she is posing correctly either.

If the gown was as bright as the runway, if she posed like the runway, if she was taller and had an updo like the runway, this would have been amazing.

  18. amy June 23, 2014 at 18:51 #

it’s not working, the top is fine but the sheer skirt is badly done.

  19. Nadine June 23, 2014 at 19:24 #

    What in the world?

  20. Phoenix June 24, 2014 at 02:25 #

I was looking at the picture trying to figure out what bothered me about it. And then I read the description underneath….Yeah! It does look cheap. Pity, as I love Stephane Rollands designs usually….but this and her last one are both off.

  21. cherrysoftness June 24, 2014 at 03:24 #

I have to admit… I find the runway photo a bit stunning. It’s so strange how, on the red carpet, the ruffles look like an umbrella wrecked in a storm.

  22. Effy June 24, 2014 at 03:53 #

The dress is actually really interesting, but I think is not working on her. She’s not tall enough, also the fit and the styling are off.

  23. Joy June 24, 2014 at 23:06 #

Yeah this is just weird. Beautiful girl however (obviously I know we are not commenting on beauty, but she makes this goofy dress look lovely) & I love the sunny yellow! But the bottom part of this dress can’t make up it’s mind.

  24. MaddyEliza June 25, 2014 at 21:18 #

I’m clearly in the minority here but I love this dress and I think it’s a stunner. I don’t love it as much as the first Stephane Rolland Li wore but it’s still gorgeous.
