Li Bingbing In Stéphane Rolland Couture – ‘Transformers: Age of Extinction’ World Premiere

Li Bingbing In Stéphane Rolland Couture - ‘Transformers Age of Extinction’ World Premiere

Li Bingbing joined Nicola Peltz on the red carpet this evening (June 19) for the world premiere of ‘Transformers: Age of Extinction’ in Hong Kong.

The Asian beauty served up some architectural brilliance courtesy of Stephane Rolland.

Her Spring 2014 Couture gown with an ivory cap-sleeve top featuring embroidery which trickles down to the black sheer panelled skirt was a refreshing change of pace.

This could’ve easily been a safe princess embellished gown for a premiere on her home turf, but she opted to go left and it paid off.

A pretty pink lip, a gold Jimmy Choo clutch and nude ankle strap peep-toes, which I am slightly indifferent about, completed her BDOTY worthy look.

You can buy Bingbing’s Jimmy Choo Cage Clutch from Net-A-Porter.com.

Don’t like this at all – arts & craftsy in a weird way.

    • sara June 19, 2014 at 23:07 #

Agree, I dont like the embellishments… this is FARRRR from BDOTY worthy for me

  2. Inge June 19, 2014 at 22:55 #

I don’t like the sheer part of her dress. It’s not flattering. (knees)

    • Christine June 19, 2014 at 23:20 #

Agreed. It’s not a good look.

    • CreoleLady June 20, 2014 at 01:38 #

+2. Looks like she’s wearing pantyhose. And don’t get me started on those platforms. Not feeling it, she doesn’t have the presence to pull such a dress off.

  3. Marcel June 19, 2014 at 22:55 #

If it was bad on the catwalk(and it WAS REALLY BAD then ) it became almost tragic on the red carpet.
The sheer panel and the hanging embellishments just don’t have a reason to exist together.

  4. Ramsay June 19, 2014 at 23:14 #

It’s a big NO for me from head to toe

  5. AnderBoBo June 19, 2014 at 23:22 #

This whole look is overwrought. I echo the “NO” sentiment.

  6. Yeliz June 19, 2014 at 23:22 #

The sheer part is ruining everything of what could’ve been BDOTW-worthy. It’s not only that it’s sheer, it’s the fact that it looks too tight + doesn’t do her any favours. On the plus side, I love the embroidery on the gown.

    • SilentVisitor June 20, 2014 at 00:00 #

+1; to be fair creases also appeared on the runway.
I find this awful, on the runway or redcarpet…….

    • Alina June 20, 2014 at 05:53 #

      I agree with you, Yeliz.

  7. Sanya June 19, 2014 at 23:27 #

I really this dress. Especially the runway version with Nieves Alvarez. To bad Nieves didn’t wear it on the red carpet as well.

    • Sanya June 19, 2014 at 23:28 #

      I really LIKE this dress…

    • Edie June 20, 2014 at 03:03 #

I think it might just work because of Nieves. She’s got that amazing bearing and attitude to carry it. It’s a difficult dress.

  8. Phoenix June 20, 2014 at 00:22 #

    I love the runway look…
the other version not so much….something looks off. the sheer piece? I don’t know. but its unfortunate cause its a stunning dress.

    • Marcel June 20, 2014 at 17:20 #

That is because Nieves with her posing and strutting can make a potato sack looks glamorous.
If you watch the video, how she kicks the skirt at the end… is just glorious.

      • Phoenix June 21, 2014 at 04:32 #

Ha! I do absolutely love Nieves. She totally fascinates me. i need to see video of that lol. I’m sure shes fab :)

  9. Cindy June 20, 2014 at 00:27 #

This is a big NO for me as well. The sheer paneling is just awful. I think I might have really liked the embellishment without the sheer panel.

  10. Pedro June 20, 2014 at 00:50 #

    She looks terrible!

    Worst Dressed Of The Week

  11. TL June 20, 2014 at 01:38 #

Would be a gorgeous dress if it were not for the sheer part.

  12. sharizal_samah June 20, 2014 at 02:26 #

    this is glorious

    BDOTY contender

  13. Fer June 20, 2014 at 02:26 #

I just hate the sheer part. It’s so out of place. But the construction of the dress is amazing, and well she is rocking it!

  14. cherrysoftness June 20, 2014 at 02:30 #

I did a double-take on the bottom half, if it was really her legs or just a drawing. I just looked so much like a picture on the fabric.

  15. Alex June 20, 2014 at 03:18 #

I wish the skirt was solid black and not sheer. Ruins the look, IMO

  16. LIsam June 20, 2014 at 05:25 #

I’m wondering if Fashion Critic will put this up for BDOTW despite the negative comments.

  17. Alex V June 20, 2014 at 07:01 #

I wish the panel wasn’t that sheer, ugly IMO

  18. Denise June 20, 2014 at 07:34 #

Only Nieves would have pulled this off. It’s too short in the front, the sheer panel is really tight, and it doesn’t suit Li’s personality.

  19. mix June 20, 2014 at 07:47 #

This is terrible , she doesn’t own the height, body, attitude and personality to pull it off.

  20. Henrique June 20, 2014 at 08:39 #

    Well… no.

  21. Magdalena June 20, 2014 at 12:48 #

i like the dress, its so refreshing

  22. Nicky June 20, 2014 at 14:58 #

Seems we’re in the minority FC, but I also think this is a gorgeous BDOTY worthy look. It’s fresh and unique.

    • Catherine Kallon June 20, 2014 at 16:17 #

Very much so…I LOVE this look…surprised that our love for this is not shared

  23. TeaAtTwo June 20, 2014 at 15:03 #

I’m with the others who love for this stops after seeing the sheer front of the skirt. Insert a panel there and I’d love it.

  24. amy June 20, 2014 at 15:08 #

love me some Stephane Rolland but this dress is terrible. this is sheer gone wrong, it does nothing for her, it actually makes her look stumpy. nay

  25. Amanda June 20, 2014 at 16:09 #

I love how it looks on the model posing, but it doesn’t seem to translate well in real life.

  26. Prudence June 20, 2014 at 19:19 #

The sheerness in the skirt totally ruins this for me. What a shame because everything else is lovely. However this is not spectacular enough for me to even whisper bdoty.

  27. Nat39 June 20, 2014 at 20:46 #

As a fan of all sorts of unusual skirts and hemlines, I actually love the skirt with its unique design and artful elements. What I don’t like is the combination with the rather casual top which brings some of the drama down, and those nude peep-toes are an eyesore. Overall, I appreciate that she took a risk.

    • Nat39 June 20, 2014 at 21:35 #

..I just don’t think it’s working that well on her.
