Blake Lively In Michael Kors – 2014 CFDA Fashion Awards

Blake Lively In Michael Kors - 2014 CFDA Fashion Awards

Blake Lively attended the 2014 CFDA Fashion Awards held at Alice Tully Hall, Lincoln Center on Monday (June 2) in New York City.

As one of the major players at this event, I was somewhat disappointed by her look.

Her Michael Kors Resort 2015 sequinned dress with a scalloped hemline doesn’t quite live up to the glamour of the event.

The barbarella ‘do and clunky Casadei pink suede pumps also get a resounding thumbs down from me, as the styling feels a bit too cheesy for my liking.

It’s like her mojo was left on the red carpet at Cannes.

Lorraine Schwartz diamond hoops and an armful of Lorraine Schwartz natural wood and diamond bangles completed her look.

It’s a nice look, but not right for the occasion. Go back to Gucci, Blake!

Terrible look. The hair is a no go!

There are no redeemable features in this look. It actually looks like a costume, like she’s on set of a 60’s period piece.

This is really disappointing since she was so good at Cannes. The dress is cute but underwhelming for the event and I don’t like her styling at all.

    I dislike this h2t.
The dress itself is not bad – but for some other event.

  5. Larissa June 3, 2014 at 10:57 #

Of course she looks gorgeous but her outfit does not suit the occasion at all. I was expecting something more glamorous from her. Add a pair of sunglasses and this is what Miranda Kerr wears off duty in NY to go shopping with her son (minus the hair)… Those suede pumps are totally out of place, colorful sandals and a different hairstyle would have made this 100% better.

I love Blake but this is so bad! Was Barbie her inspiration for this outfit? Because I can’t see any other reason why she would wear this!!
Everything is so twee…from the headband, to the dress and the shoes. Horrible!

  7. Taylahre June 3, 2014 at 11:04 #

For a wife this look is very the 1960’s girl next door, she obviously left her maturity and grace back in France

Also what the hell are those bangles there for ?

    • molly June 3, 2014 at 20:11 #

She has a thing for obnoxious bangles and they never work with her outfits.
I think she looks a lot like Robin Wright in Forrest Gump here. Nice but wrong for the event.

  8. Martin June 3, 2014 at 11:05 #

None of this makes sense to me. The headband/hair and earrings are obvious and tacky, the dress is flat and one-dimensional and those shoes are bordering on offensive. A fail on all counts.

  9. dedel June 3, 2014 at 11:35 #

I hate the shoes with this dress, the headband has nothing to do here and her bangles are too imposing. I’m also disappointed =(

  10. Sanja June 3, 2014 at 11:44 #

I’ve expected more from her. This look is not good.

  11. m June 3, 2014 at 11:51 #

i thought this was a nice change of pace for blake…

  12. Emma June 3, 2014 at 11:58 #

This is bad. She looks like a 2960’s housewife Barbie. The hair is so bad. The hem of the dress makes me think of Jane from Tarzan. The super clunky bangles don’t go with the look.

How this woman just scored her third (!) US Vogue cover baffles me.

  13. Cecilia June 3, 2014 at 12:25 #

Thumbs down. She tries too hard

  14. aiyu June 3, 2014 at 13:02 #

I’ll have to disagree. I’m usually not a fan of Blake, but I love her look here.

It’s different from the big gowns she wore in Cannes, I love the colours of the dress and the hair and pumps add a touch of girly.

  15. charlotte June 3, 2014 at 13:15 #

I think the hair isn’t working for her.
    the dress is really lovely

  16. Jones19 June 3, 2014 at 13:20 #

I like the 60’s feel of this look but it’s a little too understated for this glam event.

  17. Jojo June 3, 2014 at 13:48 #

    Thinking Jane Fonda’s Barabarella

  18. Anissa June 3, 2014 at 15:02 #

The scalloped bottom of the skirt is giving me major Flintstones’ vibes. This look (esp. the styling) really doesn’t work.

  19. gabis June 3, 2014 at 15:03 #

Too Bedrock for my taste. Not liking it.

  20. pinksugar June 3, 2014 at 15:08 #

This isn’t event appropriate for me but she by no means looks bad. I love the hair this look just would have been better suited for a more casual day event.

  21. justme June 3, 2014 at 15:15 #

Individually, the headband/hair, the dress, the shoes or even the bangles aren’t bad. But paired together, the whole outfit looks extremely dated. I have to agree with the 90’s Barbie comments :/

  22. The Dame June 3, 2014 at 16:52 #

No one going to mention that she looks like she’s lost a lot of weight? I don’t think Ive ever seen her this skinny :(

    • justme June 3, 2014 at 18:05 #

She’s been like this for awhile now. I used to think she had the most perfect legs when Gossip Girl started so when she got thinner, I immediately noticed. She doesn’t look ill or anything but yeah, she’s lost weight.

  23. Kiki June 3, 2014 at 17:06 #

My guess is she had someone styling her for Cannes, and for a minor event like this she decided to style herself. Tacky. Disaster!

    • cherrysoftness June 4, 2014 at 03:11 #

I thought so, too. No sane person capable of choosing those looks and styling them so well would choose this embarrassingly tacky and cheap looking assortment of accessories – it’s one thing to look bad and costume-y, but with such ugly pieces?

Magnifique To Tragique within a span of days. At least she looks happy (she actually looks delighted at her outfit).

  24. Tamara June 3, 2014 at 19:03 #

Yup when she’s not working bombshell waves and predictable gowns she can’t really pull off anything else. She’s so un-high-fashion as it is that adding in anything that’s not super mass friendly and predictable will always not work on her. I don’t get the fashion love for Blake, she wears beautiful but predictable gowns and relies on her body way too much. Girls got some friends in high places to be scoring major fashion contracts considering she’s not a very successful actress.

  25. oksana June 3, 2014 at 20:27 #

    very beautiful

  26. k6wing June 3, 2014 at 21:09 #

She looks so old… Not a good look

  27. Rebecca Z June 3, 2014 at 22:01 #

Like everything but the bracelets and the shoes.

  28. Dhppy June 4, 2014 at 01:26 #

    Zzzzzz.

  29. Ashlee June 4, 2014 at 03:21 #

    I just love her hair

  30. Markness June 4, 2014 at 09:45 #

I love this look. Just not for this occasion. Surprised to see this on Blake, what was she thinking? I wished Michael designed something for her instead. I love that she committed to the look, though.

  31. amy June 4, 2014 at 17:15 #

I actually like the hair but everything else is meh

  32. Bailey October 8, 2014 at 23:35 #

    Loving the 60’s inspired look!
