Lupita Nyong’o In Alexander McQueen – Veuve Clicquot Polo Classic 2014

Lupita Nyong'o In Alexander McQueen - Veuve Clicquot Polo Classic 2014

Lupita Nyong’o joined Olivia Munn for the seventh annual Veuve Clicquot Polo Classic in Liberty State Park on Saturday (May 31) in Jersey City.

The Oscar-winning actress wore an Alexander McQueen Spring 2014 black and white dress crafted from bonded laser-cut cotton-poplin, lightly structured in the body and cut for a close fit, with a pleated skirt creating an hourglass silhouette.

Maximizing the effect with heels and a matching mini ‘Heroine’ bag, the actress also styled her look with a black hat, a rare sighting of open-toe footwear, and diamond cluster earrings.

As someone who doesn’t like white shoes, I’m actually wondering if they would’ve improved the look, as I’m not a fan of her wedges choice.

The makeup, as always, is perfection. This is probably distracting me from addressing the hat. Not sure if it is working for me here.

What do you think?

I’m okay with the wedges but the hat isn’t great. It doesn’t suit the dress.

Like everything but the shoes. Don’t go well with the look

She looks like a Hamptons housewife from the 90’s. Not feeling it at all…

I like this belt-up. I’m glad she filled the midriff, but I don’t think the peplum/pockets work then. Don’t particularly care for the bag with the dress or the shoes.

The hat is distracting, it ruins the outfit. I quite dislike the shoes, too.

Not a fan of the shoes and the hat. The rest is great.

I don’t like the dress. It makes her hips look bigger than what they are.

I love the hat–in fact I love the whole look, though I agree white shoes would have been better. She looks fabulous.

I love the hat, and wedges were appropriate for the event. The purse I could take or leave.

I think she looks great – I’m happy not to see the usual pumps. I also think the hat looks fine…I might have liked it with a larger brim.

    The hat doesn’t suit her

The hat is event-appropriate, although I just don’t like all this greyness, needed a pop of colour somewhere via accessories (summery yellow comes to mind)
