Halle Berry In Elie Saab Couture – 2014 Huading Film Awards

Halle Berry In Elie Saab Couture - 2014 Huading Film Awards

Halle Berry collected the Global Icon Award during the Huading Film Awards on Sunday (June 1) which were held at Ricardo Montalban Theatre in Los Angeles, California. This was the first time China’s #1 film awards has been held in the U.S.

The actress, who made Elie Saab a household name by wearing one of his gowns to the 2002 Oscars, went back into the designer’s archive to select her look for this occasion.

Her Elie Saab black floral-embroidered gown featuring sheer sleeves and a lace-accented side slit, hails from the Spring 2003 Couture collection, the first Couture collection by the Lebanese designer.

Even though this dress is old, it is refreshing to see something different from Elie Saab; as I noted in my Elle Fanning post, those beaded gowns are all starting to feel like red carpet repeats.

She looks good but I prefer the runway styling. The shoes are way better and I much prefer the sleeves on the runway.

The dress is beautiful, it is different for her, I would only prefer a strappy sandal.

      +1

I agree about Elie Saab becoming one note.

This dress is beautiful and she looks so freaking good! Girlfriend does not age.

I don’t know if its just that Elie Saab is becoming one note, but I think the issues here is that Elie Saab gowns are so popular, and everybody is wearing them: it doesn’t matter what is the occasion, how famous is the actress etc. Everybody wears them, and then it gets too much.

Well….. His dresses are starting to look the same season after season. All beautiful and grand, but they all look the same in one big bundle.

        One note, boo.

She still wears Elie Saab better than most IMO and I love that she picked a piece from such an old collection!
It’s a stunning gown and she looks fantastic, glad we got to see it over 10 years later! Well done Halle

    She looks gorgeous.

I could have sworn this dress was last season’s Marchesa!. It’s so similar, so so so similar. It’s pretty, sad to see that Elie Saab now just sticks to his selling formula.

    • lee June 2, 2014 at 14:24 #

If this dress was Last season’s Marchesas, than Elie Saab did it first because its from his Spring couture 2003 season. Therefore, in this case, seems like Marchesa ripped off Elie Saab.

Why is it “sad” that he sticks to a tried-and-true formula? It works for him and his costumers, and a lot of other designers do the same thing. It’s not as if anybody is making the argument that Elie Saab designs are groundbreaking or avant-garde. They’re appreciated for their construction and elegance. It’s just his niche in the fashion world.

She looks fantastic and it is a beautiful dress. But one day this gorgeous woman will come to believe (I hope) that she doesn’t have to show miles of skin to be beautiful. I am not objecting to the slit–her legs are gorgeous. Just staying….she doesn’t need it.

    • moonbeam June 2, 2014 at 15:14 #

She’s not showing “miles of skin” sheesh. A leg and an arm constitute “miles of skin”??

Another black dress. Ugh. On the upside, kinda cool she went to the archives so I can get on board. But the office pumps are a big honking no.

She looks gorgeous and I love that she went back to the archives.
