With the fashionable force of celebrities in town for the 67th annual Cannes Film Festival in France, no better time for another starry party. Chanel and ‘Vanity Fair’ took the opportunity to fete the occasion on Tuesday (May 20) with a dinner at the beachfront restaurant, Tetou, where a bevy of Chanel-clad beauties were on the scene.
Lily Allen: The British singer-songwriter was dressed in a blue tweed frock with glittery embroidery from the Chanel Spring 2012 Couture collection, which she paired with (not pictured) gunmetal metallic pumps. The classic silhouette received a punchy accent via the embellished cold-shoulder sleeves and patchwork hemline. While her blue pendant earrings may have been unnecessary given the glitz of the dress, the yellow Chanel clutch was definitely a questionable blot on this look.
Jessica Chastain: Whereas Lily went for shine, Jessica kept her look on a more subtle level, donning a Chanel Resort 2014 white tweed dress with pockets. From her flame-red locks to her barely-there makeup and natural nails, this was the embodiment of au naturel styling. We can’t see if her shoes added a spark, but were you bored, or did you appreciate her breezy, effortless beauty?
Jess Weixler: Pretty in pink, the actress also wore tweed in a Chanel Spring 2014 dress with accent embroideries. A relaxed updo and a light sprinkling of jewels was all that was needed to complete the look.
Karolina Kurkova: Also strutting out an ensemble from the Chanel Spring 2014 collection, the supermodel dressed in a navy blue and white tweed frock with a collared neckline, double-breasted button detailing and a pleated, dropped-waist skirt. She accessorized with a double-strand necklace, a white mini-handbag and a bright watermelon-pink lip.
Claire Tran: The up-and-coming French actress perhaps wore the most impactful statement in her Chanel Spring 2013 saturated pink silk dress, paired with a Chanel metal and oversized pearl necklace, and a silver Chanel clutch. She matched her lip to the vibrant fuchsia colour of her frock.
Julianne Moore: Light green and black sequins covered Julianne’s Chanel Fall 2013 Couture embroidered dress, which was no doubt a work of art—even if the effect came across as a bit boxy on top.
